Job Summary The Pharmacist Sales Manager is responsible for driving revenue growth through the development, management, and expansion of pharmacy‑related business opportunities. This role blends clinical pharmacy expertise with sales leadership and consultative selling to deliver value‑based pharmacy solutions to healthcare organizations, payers, employers, and provider groups. The Pharmacist Sales Manager partners closely with internal clinical, operational, and account management teams to achieve sales objectives and support long‑term client success.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and execute sales strategies to meet or exceed revenue and growth targets
Identify, prospect, and qualify new pharmacy, healthcare, and payer opportunities
Lead the full sales cycle, including discovery, solution design, presentations, negotiations, and contract execution
Leverage clinical pharmacy expertise to articulate the value of pharmacy programs, medication management solutions, and outcomes‑based services
Conduct clients’ needs assessments and align solutions with clinical, operational, and financial objectives
Collaborate with clinical, operations, and account management teams to ensure seamless client onboarding and successful implementation
Prepare and deliver compelling sales presentations, proposals, and responses to RFPs/RFIs
Maintain accurate sales pipeline, forecasts, and activity tracking within CRM systems
Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision‑makers and stakeholders
Monitor market trends, competitive activity, and regulatory changes impacting pharmacy sales
Support account expansions, upselling, and cross‑selling initiatives
Represent the organization at industry conferences, meetings, and networking events
Partner closely with account managers to ensure smooth transition from sale to ongoing account management
Work cross‑functionally with clinical, operations, finance, legal, and marketing teams
Prepare sales reports, forecasts, and performance dashboards for leadership
Provide market feedback to inform product development and service enhancements
Skills & Abilities
Strong consultative sales and negotiation skills
Solid clinical pharmacy knowledge with the ability to translate complex concepts into business value
Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills
Strategic thinking with a results‑driven mindset
Ability to build trust and influence at executive and clinical levels
Strong organizational and time‑management skills
Proficiency with CRM platforms, Microsoft Office, and sales reporting tools
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment
Education & Experience
Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree required
Active pharmacist license in good standing (state‑specific requirements apply)
Minimum of 3–5 years of pharmacy experience (managed care, PBM, specialty, clinical, or retail pharmacy preferred)
Prior experience in healthcare or pharmacy sales, business development, or commercial roles preferred
Demonstrated success meeting or exceeding sales targets preferred
Knowledge of pharmacy reimbursement, contracting, and regulatory requirements preferred
