
Volunteer Opportunity: Graphic Designer

Position Title: PsyT Graphic Designer (Volunteer)
The Graphic Designer position description includes the following titles: Graphic Designer, PsyT Volunteer, PsyTeam Member
Purpose To support PsyT chapters and the organization as a whole by creating consistent, accurate, and on-brand visual materials for events, education, and community engagement.
Responsibilities
Create and maintain graphic designs that align with PsyT’s brand guide, template library, mission, values, and code of ethics.
Produce monthly event graphics for PsyT chapters for use on the website, social media platforms, and Meetup, including standard square and landscape formats.
Ensure timely completion of monthly event graphics in alignment with PsyT’s planning and publishing cycle. Event graphics are generally created between the 1st and 10th of each month
The final deadline for completion is the 15th of the month, when events are posted publicly
Graphics may be completed earlier when events are submitted in advance
Work independently after onboarding, exercising full creative autonomy within established templates and brand guidelines for routine event graphics.
Collaborate with the Event Steward and Administrative Director to ensure clarity, accuracy, and consistency across visual materials.
Communicate with Chapter Organizers as needed to verify event details or clarify information required for graphic design.
Utilize Slack and other designated online platforms for communication and coordination in a timely manner.
Attend the first Monday of the month PsyT meeting at 5:00pm Central to review upcoming events, receive feedback, and remain integrated with the PsyT team.
Participate in additional PsyT meetings as invited, including the third Monday organizer meeting (optional).
Support additional design needs as desired and agreed upon, which may include: Fundraising graphics and promotional materials
Educational graphics for social media, including harm reduction content
Fundraising pitch decks or presentation materials
Limited collaboration on website design or updates
Complete required volunteer onboarding and training.
Abide by all PsyT rules, regulations, and procedures, as well as any federal, state, city, or other laws applicable to the location where activities occur.
Qualifications
Adults interested in contributing creative skills within a community-based organization
Graphic design training or a demonstrated portfolio of relevant work
Ability to work independently while meeting recurring deadlines
Strong attention to detail, including text accuracy and visual consistency
Familiarity with digital design formats for web and social media
Professional written communication skills
Enthusiasm, patience, understanding, and ethical conduct
Willingness to follow PsyT rules, bylaws, and brand standards when representing the organization
Preferred Qualifications
Experience designing for events, nonprofits, or community organizations
Familiarity with educational or harm reduction content
Interest in expanding skills into fundraising, educational design, or web-related projects
Opportunity to develop a professional design portfolio with consistent, public-facing work
Public acknowledgment as a volunteer Graphic Designer with PsyT
Letters of recommendation and professional references upon request
Opportunity to connect with psychedelic community members and organizers
Invitations to PsyT events, including local chapter and in-person gatherings
Opportunities for scholarships to PsyT trainings and educational offerings

Time Commitment
Requires a minimum one-year commitment
Approximately 4–6 hours per month for core responsibilities
Additional hours for optional projects only if desired
Time commitment may vary based on the number of events and optional projects
