The Sr Manager, Shopper-Consumer Insights drives the strategic direction of shopper and consumer understanding across key business units. This role oversees a portfolio of insight initiatives, leads cross‑functional insight integration, and partners with senior leaders to influence commercial strategies. The Sr Manager also plays a critical role in talent development and capability building within the insights team. The position is responsible for managing client & tool contracts, including negotiations, and ensuring the involvement of relevant stakeholders across the organization.

Responsibilities
Relationships: Build strong, long‑lasting relationships with existing clients. This includes strategic business analysis, understanding client needs, and positioning the organization as a trusted partner in delivering insightful, data‑driven solutions.
Strategic projects, reporting and insights: Conduct analysis, generate insights, and produce reports that consistently assess the health of the economy and marketplace. Educate client, customer, and vendor community, including all levels of seniority. Integrate multiple data sources to deliver detailed ongoing reports, incremental deliverables, and strategic insights highlighting performance trends, competitive dynamics, opportunities, and risks. Synthesize complex information and effectively present it to internal business units and external key stakeholders.
Tools and resource management: Identify, scope, test, and launch new tools that align with evolving technological advancements, thereby enhancing the suite of tools that support business insights and operational efficiency. Support cross‑functional teams in evaluating ongoing technology needs that have application across the company. Create and maintain training documentation, lead workshops, and facilitate knowledge sharing within the business insights team and across the broader organization. Collaborate with tool providers to develop custom templates to optimize outputs and enhance efficiency, while also troubleshooting technical issues.
Client contract management and negotiation: Engage proactively with senior client leaders on a quarterly and annual basis to assess partnership health and identify growth opportunities. Annually renegotiate contracts, including scope of work, cost to serve, contract pricing, alignment with internal finance teams, draft contracts, negotiation meetings, and resource planning. Consistently seek opportunities to expand existing contracts.
Growth and business development: Collaborate with client and customers to identify category white space and uncover new brand opportunities that align with strategic goals. Develop compelling client narratives, support the RFP process including preparation, pitching and follow‑up. Actively identify upselling and cross‑selling opportunities by connecting clients to the organization’s comprehensive suite of internal resources, including research and sales teams.
Team development: Provide strategic leadership and day‑to‑day management of teammates, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and business insight standards. Act as a mentor and role model, fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment that encourages team members to excel and grow in their careers. Set clear expectations, offer regular feedback, and conduct performance evaluations. Conduct formal training sessions and workshops to enhance team skills, capabilities and knowledge sharing. Partner with senior insight leaders to develop reporting templates for team use. Lead monthly internal business insights meetings to inspire continuous improvement and cross‑team collaboration.
Qualifications
Education Requirements: Bachelor’s degree (graduate level degree preferred).
Experience Requirements: 12+ years’ experience in relevant field.
Travel requirement: Some travel expected.
Direct Reports: Hires, retains, trains, coaches, guides, directs, and develops direct reports using company‑wide processes, tools and resources.
Indirect Reports: May delegate work of others and provide guidance, direction and mentoring to indirect reports.
Client / customer expertise: Deep understanding of client business strategy, initiatives, and processes.
Driven by curiosity and self‑motivation, with the ability to evaluate strategic opportunities.
Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively present and champion deliverables to internal and external leadership.
