Job Summary The Director of National Accounts will be responsible for identifying, selling, and closing citywide conventions originating from the National market. The Director of National Accounts will maintain and grow a client base and achieve assigned convention booking goals.
This position also will assist in the development of budgets and strategies leading to increased destination awareness, will develop and maintain relationships within the Spokane hospitality community and will represent Spokane and Visit Spokane in the National market.
Key Responsibilities
Achieve Visit Spokane team sales goals and individual booking goals: generate qualified convention and meeting leads for Spokane County hotels and facilities.
Research and qualify prospective group opportunities and actively solicit convention and meeting ness to produce sales leads and secure bookings for destination hotel/motel properties and facilities.
Maintain accurate accounts, contacts, leads and summaries in iDSS reflecting all relevant sales activities relating to the qualification and advancement of an account. Maintain updated tasks and notes, partner communications, and add future trace dates.
Complete aggressive schedule of outside sales calls and appointments in market.
Provide Vice President of Sales with weekly updates and strategies during scheduled 1 on 1’s in addition to quarterly and annual reporting of successes and opportunities within your market.
Create and maintain relationships with Spokane hospitality community including the Spokane Convention Center staff.
Lead participation in trade shows, sales calls, sales missions, site visits, and destination reviews. Complete all follow up in iDSS via Teams including post trip report, expenditures, addition of tasks and follow up traces.
Lead in the preparation, management, and evaluation of annual program of work and budget.
Interface with Convention Services regarding convention clients. Add all account, contact and lead summary data into iDSS allowing for a successful and well-informed turnover process to convention services.
Prepare leads, collect, and monitor partner responses and prepare proposals for client consideration. Provide accountable and actionable updates to partners giving them the information they need to meet clients' needs and expectations. Lead the conversation from the client to the partners and from the partners to the client.
Prepare site itineraries for customers and participate in on-site experiences. Prepare and distribute pre-tour Business Intelligence reports to partners and encourage the completion of surveys with clients before they depart the destination.
Other related duties which may be necessary to support Visit Spokane’s success.

Work Environment: Special Considerations This role requires 40 hours per week.
Work Location This is a remote, home‑office position based in the Western United States, with Washington State preferred. Individuals based in the Spokane area will be expected to work onsite for a specified number of days per week.
The role requires significant travel within assigned markets and to Spokane for site visits, team meetings, and other business needs, including after‑hours and weekend commitments.
Physical Requirements While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to walk, bend, reach, stand for extended periods of time at events, trade shows, or receptions, and sit for extended periods. Extensive use of a keyboard and typing required. The individual must be able to travel to domestic and international destinations via commercial airlines.
The employee must be able to communicate effectively, speak clearly, and hear well over the telephone, via virtual meetings and in person.
The noise level in the work environment is moderate.
You must be able to lift and carry 40 pounds.

Qualifications
A 4-year bachelor’s degree in hotel management is preferred; however, experience will supersede.
Candidate must have at least ten years of hospitality sales professional experience and a proven record of accomplishment of sales in the National Association Market.
Have a large existing client base and experience working on property in a large convention hotel and/or in a Global Sales Position or a DMO in a remote environment.
Must have experience in general office computer programs (Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint) Experience in working with a comprehensive computerized sales tracking system. Simpleview, Delphi or Tempest preferred.
This position requires an ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects/responsibilities and people simultaneously while meeting stringent deadlines.
Excellent judgment and creative problem-solving skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution.
Excellent communication and public presentation skills, and proven ability to work with a diverse group of individuals and groups.
Must be able to manage a fast-paced workload that includes frequent travel, events, and client engagement.
