Candidate must have lead experience (lead the environment and make decisions around strategy of the tool ie: how to best utilize the tool, how to work with business/app dev), Sr Level experience with DB2 DBA tasks, Must be willing to work across/backup on other database platforms
Job Description:
I. Job Summary
The Lead Systems Engineer is responsible for creating and maintaining databases in a corporate data services team that supports multiple database platforms, data integration, and business intelligence infrastructure.
II. Responsibilities
Build, monitor, and perform maintenance on DB2 LUW;
Member of team providing 24 x 7 on-call support to maintain .9999 availability;
Drive major projects and design technology strategies;
Define and validate DB standards;
Manage project intake, define scope, and provide labor estimates;
Mentor other engineers and coordinate daily activities and project assignments;
Provide security compliant database controls and reporting;
Provide performance tuning and database optimization;
Provide technical support to IT staff for the application development and testing;
Assist developers in creating and fine tuning query statements;
Follows project management methodology in all phases of work performed.
Analyzes and recommends database changes to improve efficiency, lower costs, and enhance the quality of our business applications;
Author and validate DR plans;
Act as a primary point of contact to other domain leads.
III. Position Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent;
7+ years extensive technical experience in a variety of IS areas, including: 5+ years DBMS. & 4+ years UNIX.
Advanced experience with DB2 LUW Databases
IV. Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with DB2 HADR and Tivoli Systems Automation (TSA)
Experience in physical data modeling with IBM Infosphere Data Architect.
Experience with Database Administration Oracle DBMS;
Experience presenting to technical and non-technical staff;
Attention to detail for disaster recovery planning and testing;
Excel in a growing, changing, and collaborative environment.
