Sales / Business Development – U.S. Market Expansion

(Food Manufacturing Industry)

Company Overview We are a well-known food manufacturing company in Japan, with a strong brand presence, particularly in the confectionery segment. We established our U.S. office as part of our global expansion strategy and We are now entering the next phase of growth and are looking to hire a sales professional to support and grow our U.S. business operations.

Position Overview This is a newly created position focused on supporting the expansion of our products in the U.S. market. The role will primarily involve working in close collaboration with our existing U.S. distributors, who are currently responsible for selling our products in the market.

As the U.S. business is still in its early stages, the scope of responsibilities will evolve over time, and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to help shape the role and local sales operations.

Key Responsibilities (Expected Scope)

Support sales activities in close collaboration with existing distributors in the U.S. market

Accompany and support distributor-led sales efforts, meetings, and customer visits as needed

Build and maintain strong relationships with distributor partners

Support the expansion of sales within existing distribution channels

Gather market feedback and customer insights through distributor interactions

Collaborate closely with Japan HQ and the U.S. office on product strategy, pricing, and market positioning

Support various operational and administrative tasks required during the start-up phase

As the U.S. business evolves, the scope of responsibilities may expand to include additional market development activities.

Required Qualifications

Sales experience in the food industry (experience in confectionery is strongly preferred, but not required)

Relevant sales experience ranging from early-career to seasoned professionals (candidates with up to approximately 15 years of experience are welcome)

Experience working with distributors or indirect sales channels is a plus

Comfortable working in a start-up or newly established business environment

Self-motivated and able to work independently with limited structure

Business-level proficiency in both Japanese and English (Japanese is required)

Strong communication skills and cross-cultural awareness
