Flexible/Hybrid Work Schedule This position offers the ability to work remotely three days per week with a Flexible/Hybrid work schedule.

Overview We are looking for a dynamic leader with excellent leadership skills, strategic planning abilities, high ethical standards, and a positive attitude to join the Saving, Access, and Financial Empowerment (SAFE) Bureau within the Michigan Department of Treasury.

Division Director Responsibilities This position serves as the Division Director of the Unclaimed Property Division. The Division Director is responsible for the overall administration of the Division, including: administration of the Uniform Unclaimed Property Act (Act 29 of 1995), enhanced enforcement of the Act to increase properties reported and holder compliance, oversight of hundreds of unclaimed property audits performed by multiple auditing firms with over 100 auditors under contract, and responsibility for personnel services, financial integrity, legal compliance, operational standards, recordkeeping, and marketing. The Division Director determines issues for the State Treasurer’s review/action, administers policies and procedures, promotes efficiency and prompt service to claimants as well as holder compliance, and provides leadership, strategic vision, planning, and oversight for all financial empowerment initiatives in coordination with Bureau and Departmental staff.

Education Possession of a bachelor’s degree in any major.

Experience Two years of experience as a professional manager or program/staff specialist, or equivalent experience.

Additional Qualifications a) A position is considered professional if the job requires a bachelor’s degree. Qualifying professional experience is counted post bachelor’s degree. b) Education level typically acquired through completion of high school and three years of safety and regulatory or law enforcement experience at the 14 level; or, two years of safety and regulatory or law enforcement experience at the 15 level, may be substituted for the education and experience requirements.

Foreign Transcripts Applicants who possess a degree from a foreign college or university must have their academic credentials evaluated or converted into U.S. educational equivalents unless the degree has been recognized by CHEA. Remote Work Availability This position is eligible to work remotely on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays, and must work onsite Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The selected candidate must have a secure, safe, and appropriate designated workspace that allows privacy and prevents distractions, and must have secure and sufficient internet access of commercial cable or wireless broadband with minimum speeds of 25 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload. Remote work arrangements are subject to management approval and may be adjusted or discontinued at any time.

Residency Requirement Work must be performed in the state of Michigan. If you currently reside outside of Michigan, you must relocate to Michigan prior to appointment. Relocation expenses are not reimbursed.
