Position Purpose
The Commercial Relationship manager is responsible for the acquisition of new commercial/business members, the expansion/retention of existing relationships, and providing exemplary service both internally and externally. This position will help structure, underwrite, negotiate, originate, and manage complex credit relationships. The Commercial Relationship Manager is responsible for developing and executing relationship management plans for REV members through effectively collaborating with multiple departments internally as well as senior management. The incumbent must be knowledgeable of financial needs of REV members and products, including loans, deposits, treasury management, and consumer solutions while maintaining compliance with all policies, procedures, and all applicable state and federal banking regulations. Duties & Responsibilities
Assumes responsibility for the acquisition of new members and existing relationship expansion: Interviews applicants to determine loan requirements and gathers pertinent information for loan applications. Requests and reviews applicant information pertinent to properly document and assess commercial credit, deposits, and treasury services. Analyzes applicant’s financial status, credit, and asset evaluation to determine feasibility of granting loan, establishes credit limit through written and/or oral assessment. Resolves uncertainties relating to customer application information through inquiries with applicant or creditors. Structures loans within loan policy. Champions loan opportunities to the credit department and/or proper approval authority. Prepares financing proposals consistent with approval for presentation to the applicant. Reviews loan documentation prior to closing for completeness and acceptance by the applicant. Ensures timely loan closing and funding activities. Maintains a positive working relationship with customers, staff, local professionals, centers of influence, and community organizations. Participates in community and professional organizations and events. Manages loan portfolio including renewals, modifications, updated credit analysis, collections, and portfolio monitoring. Uses experience and sound judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Actively maintains a commercial portfolio and is responsible for the overall performance and assessment of risk. Actively strives to expand relationships to deliver the full power of REV and its products in all lines of business. Expected to maintain a high degree of accuracy in all areas. Expected to provide support to internal partners, as needed. Assumes responsibility for effectively collaborating internally to drive business results: Partners directly with departmental leadership to assist in the preparation for exams, audits, and reviews. Makes decisions rooted in the best interest of the membership of REV Federal Credit Union, the Business Solutions team, and the borrower. Responsible for providing feedback regarding process, procedure, and policy intended to increase efficiency and/or quality of work. Assumes responsibility for maintaining effective communication and coordination with REV personnel and management: Assists and serves branches and related departments as needed. Keeps the departmental leadership informed of area activities and of any significant problems. Completes reports, records, and other documentation as required. Attends and participates in meetings and committees as required. Serves as a non-voting member of the Business Loan Committee. Assumes responsibility for completing continuing education on items necessary for success in the role: Stays knowledgeable of all the requirements and processes to include bought and sold participation loans. Develops and maintains familiarity with all loan policies and procedures for REV Federal Credit Union. Develops and maintains knowledge of commercial lending requirements for REV Federal Credit Union. Develops and maintains knowledge of business deposit requirements for REV Federal Credit Union. Assumes responsibility for compliance with applicable regulations: Understands and complies with all NCUA, state, and other applicable regulations and guidelines. Assumes responsibility for other duties as assigned. Skills & Qualifications
Education and Certifications: College degree in business, finance, or related filed; or equivalent experience. Required Knowledge: Thorough understanding of loan documents and lien perfection techniques. Complete knowledge of commercial lending requirements and documentation. Understanding of collections procedures and related legal actions. Understanding of Real Estate Appraisal techniques (commercial) and title issues. Thorough understanding of loan documentation and closing. Experience Required: Minimum of five (5) years of related lending experience. Experience with credit administration. Experience with business deposit origination and development. Experience with Treasury Management. Experience with loan workout and remedies preferred. Skills/Abilities: Excellent follow-up skills. Excellent communication skills. Strong organizational skills. Strong ability to think critically and solve problems in a sound manner. Strong time management skills with the ability to meet applicable deadlines. Ability to multitask while maintaining a high degree of quality.
