
Alloy Engineering, located in Berea, OH, is seeking a technically minded Purchasing Specialist to join our Purchasing Team. Reporting to the Lead Buyer and supporting the Manager of Integrated Operations, you will work in a high-volume, collaborative team environment, interfacing with multiple departments across the organization. You will ensure the seamless flow of materials and services in a high-volume, fast-paced environment. This role is designed for a self-disciplined professional who values accuracy, enjoys technical research, and takes pride in maintaining the integrity of ERP systems.
Supervisory Responsibilities None
Essential Functions
ERP Precision: Take ownership of ERP administration by entering supplier solicitations and purchase orders with high accuracy, ensuring all supplier updates are maintained in real-time.
Operational Support: Partner closely with the Production Manager to expedite orders, ensuring the manufacturing floor has what it needs exactly when it needs it.
Database Management: Enhance and meticulously maintain our sourcing database to ensure reliable data for the entire organization.
Strategic Sourcing: Research and develop relationships with new suppliers for materials, services, and supplies.
Negotiation & Comparison: Negotiate competitive pricing and delivery schedules; prepare detailed quote comparisons to support informed supplier selection.
Process Improvement: Proactively identify opportunities for cost savings and participate in process improvement events to streamline company spending.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as a reliable point of contact between manufacturing, engineering, finance, and business teams.
Requirements Competencies and Attributes Needed
Experience: 3 years of previous procurement or supply chain experience in a manufacturing environment.
Detail-Oriented: for data review and entry
Technical Literacy: Ability to read fabrication and machining prints and a solid understanding of manufacturing operations.
Systems Savvy: Proficiency in ERP systems and intermediate-to-advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Sharepoint
Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills with a focus on clarity and follow-up.
Problem-Solving: A methodical approach to resolving discrepancies and finding solutions.
Physical Requirements
Sit, stand, climb stairs daily
Lift at least 25 pounds infrequently
