ABOUT THIS ROLE Versus Media Group is seeking a Junior Editor for our growing production team. This role suits an early‑career editing professional with direct experience owning post‑production processes for short‑form, social video content.
Under the direction of Versus Media Group’s Supervising Editor, you will support the video editing and production of digital content for clients in political campaigns, issue advocacy, public affairs, and related fields. As a Junior Editor, you’ll work cross‑functionally to ensure the quick and efficient execution of post‑production processes, solve creative challenges, and make content that has impact.
The ideal candidate for this role must have a passion for the craft, working knowledge of fundamental editing practices and systems and a proven track record of making quick, accurate revisions based on client or supervisor feedback in a fast‑paced, collaborative setting.
Role location:
This role is fully remote (within the Los Angeles metro area). Some travel required for in‑person collaboration with team members and clients.
ACCOUNTABILITIES & QUALIFICATIONS
Assist editors and production team with organizing footage, pulling selects, and creating assembly edits
Adapt content for different platforms, optimizing, formatting and exporting videos for short‑form social (TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts) as well as standard‑length content
Mix sound effects, background music and voiceovers to match the visuals
Work closely with video production and editing teams in response to brand briefs when required
Work across multiple projects simultaneously, balancing speed, quality and budget without compromising creative standards
Ensure all output meets Versus Media Group’s editorial, brand and client expectations
Proactively develop and evolve new short‑form formats and creative approaches in collaboration with production teams
Brainstorm, test and pilot new ideas with a clear understanding of social‑first audience behavior and performance metrics
Work collaboratively to align with brand guidelines and stay updated on social media trends, viral sounds and editing styles
Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervising Editor and Head of Production
ESSENTIAL SKILLS
1+ years of experience in video editing; relevant internship experience may be considered
Familiarity with the post‑production process, including basic mixing, sound effect integration, and dialogue enhancement
Ability to cut, sequence, and organize raw footage into a cohesive narrative
Proficiency with video editing software, including Adobe Premiere, Adobe After Effects, and Adobe Photoshop
Clear and confident communication skills
A meticulous attention to detail and a high level of organizational skills, including the ability to organize project assets, manage media and adhere to file naming conventions
Knowledge of emerging AI tools for video production with experience applying them in real‑world workflows
PREFERRED SKILLS
Political sensibilities and discernible interest in campaign politics
WORKING AT ORCHESTRA Salary range (commensurate with experience and skills): $62,000 – $72,000 annually (prorated).
