
Job Title: Website & SEO Specialist
Location: Carmel, IN (In-Office) Department: Marketing Reports To: Marketing Manager Works Closely With: Marketing Strategist, General Managers, Leadership & Website related vendors
Role Overview
The Website & SEO Specialist is responsible for the performance, optimization, and ongoing management of all dealership and affiliated business websites across the Tom Wood Group. This role combines hands-on website execution with strategic SEO ownership, requiring the ability to manage day-to-day updates across multiple platforms while driving organic growth through structured content, keyword strategy, technical optimization, and performance tracking.
In addition to ongoing maintenance and optimization, this role supports the creation, redesign, and launch of new websites across dealership and affiliated business platforms. Responsibilities include site structure planning, SEO architecture, foundational content development, platform configuration, and launch coordination to ensure new sites are conversion-focused, compliant, and optimized from day one.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, technically capable, and data-driven, with strong communication skills to work effectively with internal teams and external vendors. SEO and GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) knowledge is required. HTML knowledge is a strong plus. Automotive experience is helpful but not required.
Primary Objectives
Maintain functional, accurate, and conversion-focused websites across all platforms.
Achieve and maintain a minimum 70% website performance score across rooftops.
Increase organic traffic, rankings, and engagement through structured SEO execution.
Maintain brand and OEM compliance across platforms.
Provide clear reporting and documentation for accountability and continuous improvement.
Website Updates & Execution
Publish and maintain:
Monthly/seasonal sales and service specials
Event pages and campaign landing pages
Homepage updates (banners, tiles, featured modules)
Staff, hours, contact, and location accuracy
Navigation and featured modules
Basic SEO fields within each CMS
Ensure:
Lead routing and tracking integrity
Campaign URLs and attribution remain accurate after updates
Mobile formatting and conversion elements function properly
Page speed and structural basics are maintained
Platform Responsibilities
Dealer.com (Core Dealership Sites)
Execute updates: offers, banners, landing pages, staff pages, navigation, content.
Optimize available SEO fields.
Submit and manage Dealer.com support tickets.
Attend monthly Dealer.com calls.
Monitor tracking and attribution after changes.
Wix (Non-Automotive Businesses)
Maintain structure, content, and formatting.
Ensure mobile responsiveness.
Maintain lead routing and tracking accuracy.
Support landing page builds and structural updates.
SEO & GEO Strategy
Content Development
Produce new keyword-focused pages per month.
Service pages, model research pages, landing pages, blogs, and local SEO pages.
Refresh and update existing content regularly.
Maintain quarterly content calendar and roadmap.
On-Page SEO
Keyword research for priority terms.
Optimize
Collaborate on technical SEO improvements.
Structure content for traditional search and generative search visibility (GEO).
Performance Tracking
Monitor rankings, organic traffic, CTR, and engagement.
Use Google Search Console, GA4, SE Ranking.
Provide quarterly performance recommendations.
Cross-Team Communication
Conduct monthly website calls with stores to review:
Current priorities
Open issues
Upcoming deadlines
Performance highlights
Support campaigns, launches, and promotions with SEO-optimized content.
Coordinate with non-auto business leaders (Collision, Aviation, Rental, Powersports, etc.).
Provide recommendations to support paid media and CRM initiatives.
Core Competencies
Strong organizational skills with documented processes.
Clear written and verbal communication.
Ability to manage multiple sites and deadlines simultaneously.
Strong attention to detail.
Data-driven decision-making.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Required Qualifications
2–4 years experience in SEO, content marketing, or website management.
Proven understanding of on-page SEO principles.
Experience with CMS platforms (Dealer.com, Wix, or similar).
Experience using Google Search Console and GA4.
SEO knowledge is required.
Strong writing and editing skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Working knowledge of HTML/CSS.
Automotive digital marketing experience.
Experience working within OEM brand compliance structures.
Experience with SEMrush or equivalent SEO tools.
Familiarity with multi-location SEO strategy.
Basic graphic design knowledge (ability to create or adjust simple web graphics, resize assets, and maintain brand consistency across banners and landing pages).
