The Impact You Will Have

As the Head of US Property Wholesale Underwriting, you will lead our strategic efforts to grow and manage a profitable property portfolio across the wholesale channel. You'll combine deep technical underwriting expertise with strong leadership and market insight to drive performance, ensure compliance, and expand our footprint in new markets. Your role will be pivotal in shaping underwriting standards, mentoring underwriters, and cultivating strong broker relationships that fuel long-term success. Some of Your Specific Responsibilities Could Include:

Oversee the US Property wholesale strategy and ensure alignment with regional goals. Underwrite complex new and renewal accounts to meet top and bottom-line targets. Serve as the initial referral point for underwriters handling risks outside their authority. Manage capacity proactively and evaluate Natural Catastrophe Accumulation using modeling tools. Ensure underwriting practices align with LoB governance frameworks, including authority limits, guidelines, and pricing tools. Achieve contract certainty at policy inception and ensure timely placement of FAC Reinsurance. Oversee accurate policy documentation and file maintenance. Audit underwriting files to assess compliance and identify development opportunities. Support policy administration and credit control processes. Drive acquisition and retention of business through strategic broker engagement. Generate new producer relationships and support market management initiatives. Represent the company internally and externally and participate in cross-regional projects. Lead the professional and technical development of the underwriting team. Coach and mentor underwriters, fostering a culture of continuous improvement. Collaborate with Distribution, Claims, ARC, and Operations to enhance underwriting outcomes. What You'll Bring to the Role

Minimum 11+ years of underwriting experience in Property LoB, with a proven track record of profitable business. Demonstrated leadership capabilities and experience managing underwriting teams. Established broker relationships and strong market presence. Advanced understanding of catastrophe modeling, pricing tools, and portfolio management. Deep knowledge of LoB products, regional market dynamics, and regulatory frameworks. Strong analytical skills to interpret complex data and resolve issues proactively. Excellent influencing, coaching, and presentation skills. Ability to lead without direct authority and motivate teams toward shared goals. Strategic thinker with entrepreneurial orientation and customer focus. Bachelor's degree in Economics, Law, or a related discipline (preferred). Ability to utilize AI tools to support day-to-day tasks, improve efficiency and contribute to data-driven decision making. Completion of a professional insurance qualification (e.g., CII). Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). The annualized base pay range for this role is $121,188 - $188,683. The actual salary for this position may be above and will be determined by several factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role, the skills, education, training, credentials, and experience of the candidate. The base pay is just one component of the AzC total compensation package. As part of our comprehensive compensation and highly rated benefits programs, employees are also eligible for annual performance-based cash incentive awards.
