Responsibilities

  • Lead multi-branch, community-focused oversight of YMCA childcare and youth development programs serving Rockville, East Hartford, Glastonbury, and Wethersfield.
  • Report to the Vice President of Operations and provide leadership for eight before- and after-school programs, three early learning centers, three summer day camps, and two branch advisory councils.
  • Focus on program performance, staff supervision, community connections, fundraising, and volunteer development to ensure safe, high-quality experiences for children and families.
  • Provide oversight and accountability for all childcare and youth programs across sites, ensuring quality, compliance, and performance; supervise program leaders responsible for daily operations.
  • Ensure compliance with licensing, quality standards, and YMCA policies; monitor quality indicators and support continuous improvement.
  • Supervise and develop program directors, site leaders, and community-facing staff; foster accountability, collaboration, and professional growth.
  • Build and maintain relationships with schools, municipalities, and community partners in East Hartford, Glastonbury, and Wethersfield.
  • Oversee branch-level fundraising support, community engagement efforts, and volunteer development in partnership with Development staff and advisory councils.
  • Support two branch advisory councils by guiding engagement, outreach, and mission-driven activities.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Education
    • Bachelor’s degree in preferred majors: Education, Child Development, Nonprofit Management, Business, or a related field.
  • Experience
    • 6–8 years of progressive leadership experience in childcare, youth development, education, or nonprofit operations, including multi-site oversight.
  • Licensing & Compliance Knowledge
    • Working knowledge of OEC licensing requirements, QIS, Early Start CT, CACFP, and state and local childcare regulations.
  • Leadership & Supervision
    • Demonstrated ability to supervise and support program leaders, community-facing staff, and volunteers.
  • Community & Fundraising Skills
    • Experience building community relationships and supporting fundraising, volunteer development, or community engagement efforts.
  • Core Competencies
    • Strong communication, organization, and relationship-building skills with a commitment to child safety, equity, and the YMCA’s mission.
