The Role
A leading international freight and logistics business is seeking an Operations Director to oversee its West Coast operations. The position will focus on managing a high-performing team, ensuring operational excellence, and driving efficiency across air, ocean, and domestic freight services.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and develop an operations team to deliver best-in-class service.
- Oversee freight forwarding, customs, warehousing, and transport functions.
- Act as the senior escalation point for operational and client issues.
- Partner with sales and account management to support growth strategies.
- Negotiate with carriers and suppliers to secure competitive terms.
- Monitor KPIs, manage budgets, and implement process improvements.
- Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and industry standards.
- 8–10 years’ experience in international freight forwarding and US domestic logistics.
- Proven leadership of teams of 8+ staff at senior management level.
- Strong expertise in multimodal freight, customs compliance, and warehouse operations.
- Track record of improving performance, streamlining processes, and driving profitability.
- Excellent people management, commercial awareness, and communication skills.
