Program Director for Behavioral Support Services

Strategies to Empower People is seeking a full‑time Program Director for our Behavioral Support Services department in Sacramento. The role oversees program design, development, and implementation for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) who have significant behavioral and medical challenges.

Schedule & Salary

Salary: $104,000 – $120,000 annually (depending on experience), plus a one‑time relocation reimbursement up to $2,500. The position is salaried‑exempt and on‑call Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend coverage. Please note that this is NOT a 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. position. The Program Director is one of the last lines of supervision for our agency and must be an accessible resource for both clients and employees.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement program strategies for the Behavioral Supported Living services program.
  • Supervise and consult on client service coordination, treatment plans, and effective implementation approaches and interventions.
  • Provide supervision and direction to a large team, ensuring staff understand trauma‑informed care.
  • Work directly with individuals who communicate through challenging behaviors, including severe physical aggression, self‑injurious behavior, and property destruction.
  • Ensure the health, safety, and success of clients and employees.

Job Requirements

  • At least two (2) years of experience working in the behavioral health field.
  • Experience with the I/DD population is preferred.
  • At least two (2) years of supervisory experience (staff supervision).
  • Two (2) years of fiscal management experience is preferred.
  • Master’s degree in a related discipline.
  • Preferred certifications/licenses: Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBCA) in California.
  • Licensed and insured driver with a clean driving record (no excessive points and no DUIs or wet‑and‑reckless in the past 10 years).

Location

The position operates out of our Sacramento office at 2330 Glendale Lane, 95825. This is NOT an office‑only or remote position. The Program Director must be on site and available to support clients throughout the greater Sacramento area, with occasional travel to Sonoma and Placer counties as needed.
