Executive Director of Operations - Ambulatory Infusion & Pharmacy Services

  • Full-Time, 40 hours per week.
  • Monday - Friday; Business hours - may vary when needed.
  • Location: Based in Downers Grove, IL but will be traveling to our Chicagoland locations frequently.

Responsibilities

The Executive Director of Operations is a senior leadership role, responsible for the operational, strategic, and financial performance of the organization’s Ambulatory Infusion Centers, Specialty Pharmacy, and Retail Pharmacy services. This key position will lead day-to-day operations, build and execute growth strategies, ensure high standards of quality and compliance, and foster strong collaboration with prescribing physicians, business partners, and executive leadership. This position plays a critical role in scaling services, particularly for infusion services with a strong emphasis on IVIG expansion, as well as optimizing performance, and aligning clinical operations with the organization’s strategic.

Operational Leadership

  • Provide executive oversight of all ambulatory infusion, specialty pharmacy, and retail pharmacy operations across the portfolio.
  • Lead an organization of 130+ employees in 7 Chicago metro locations, and structure for continued growth.
  • Ensure efficient, scalable, and patient-centered operations across multiple sites and service lines.
  • Develop and implement standardized operating procedures, workflows, and performance metrics to drive consistency and operational excellence.
  • Mentor operational leaders, managers, and interdisciplinary teams to achieve performance goals.

Strategic Growth & Execution

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive growth strategy for infusion services, with a primary focus on IVIG program expansion.
  • Identify opportunities to expand service offerings, improve patient access, increase capacity utilization, and enhance financial performance.
  • Partner with executive leadership and private equity stakeholders to support strategic initiatives, acquisitions, and integration efforts.
  • Use data, analytics, and market insights to guide decision-making and measure progress against growth objectives.

Quality, Compliance & Risk Management

  • Oversee quality of care across infusion and pharmacy operations, ensuring patient safety and clinical excellence.
  • Ensure full compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, accreditation standards, and payer requirements (e.g., pharmacy, infusion, and healthcare regulatory bodies).
  • Collaborate with compliance, legal, and clinical leadership to proactively identify and mitigate operational and regulatory risks.
  • Support audits, inspections, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Build strong, collaborative relationships with prescribing physicians across the multi-specialty practice to support alignment, growth, and high-quality patient outcomes.
  • Serve as a key operational partner to clinical leaders, ensuring infusion and pharmacy services are integrated seamlessly into patient care pathways.
  • Collaborate with external business partners, vendors, payers, and specialty distributors to optimize service delivery and financial performance.

Financial & Performance Management

  • Collaborate with the finance team in budgeting, forecasting, and cost management for infusion and pharmacy services.
  • Drive revenue growth, margin improvement, and operational efficiency in alignment with organizational expectations.
  • Monitor KPIs, financial results, and operational dashboards; implement corrective actions as needed.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (8+ years) experience
  • 8–10+ years of progressive healthcare operations leadership experience
  • Demonstrated success leading healthcare operations and scaling services in a growth-oriented environment.
  • Strong understanding of infusion therapies & pharmacy services
  • Proven experience in quality oversight, regulatory compliance, and risk management.
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to influence physicians, senior leaders, and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to travel frequently within the metro area

Preferred

  • Master's Degree, preferably in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or advanced clinical degree
  • Pharmacist or Nursing license, active and in good standing in the state of Illinois
  • Significant exposure to ambulatory infusion and/or specialty pharmacy, with emphasis on IVIG, biologics, and oncology.
  • Proven experience managing multi-site operations
  • Experience within a private equity–backed healthcare organization or other performance-driven environment.
  • Familiarity with multi-specialty physician practice models and care integration.
  • Knowledge of payer delivery models for Value Based Care, capitated contracts, and Medicare Advantage
  • Clinical licensure, while not required, may be considered in compensation determination.
