
Overview
Richland County First Steps is seeking a strategic and detail-oriented Director of Finance to lead the financial operations of our mission-driven organization. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring strong fiscal management, regulatory compliance, and long-term financial sustainability in support of children and families in our community.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all financial operations including budgeting, accounting, reporting, and internal controls
- Ensure compliance with state and federal funding requirements
- Prepare financial statements
- Lead annual budgeting and long-term financial planning
- Serve as fiscal advisor to leadership and the Board Finance Committee
- Collaborate with auditors, SC First Steps, Office of Head Start, and other key stakeholders
- Strengthen financial processes and promote fiscal accountability across the organization
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
- 3–5 years of financial management experience (nonprofit experience preferred)
- Experience with fund accounting and federal grants management
- Proficiency in GAAP, internal controls, Sage INTACCT, and Excel
- Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills
