JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Information Technology Director - DEPARTMENT: Information Technology
CLASSIFICATION: Exempt
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Direct activities in the research, implementation and monitoring of phone systems; internal email system; content filtering, email management, anti-virus, security packages, SQL database structures, Microsoft Office related projects, and web services.
- Management, development, implementation, and maintenance of technology solutions for Tribal Programs and Services including management of VSA Datacenters, management of network switches and routers, and management of Multifunction Devices (printers, etc.)
- Develop and implement all IT policies and procedures, including those for security disaster recovery, standards, purchasing and service provision.
- Develop and maintain working relationships to enhance communication through technology within Tribal Operations, the Tribal community, with outside contractors providing services to the Tribe and federal and state agencies.
- Develop and maintain network structures including the Local and Wide Area, establishing networks and diagrams for each department and location, developing a consistent Domain Name System, a consistent IP network structure and working towards an Active Directory Network Structure.
- Develop and maintain I.T. purchasing packages to fit the organization's needs, including development of a tool to define current and future technology needs and the research & coordination of technology purchases.
- Establish protocol and procedures for Internet, Email, Virus Issues and SOP; I.T.
- Support Request and Work Orders.
- Establishing New Users and Terminating Users; and Password.
- Coordinate training opportunities to enhance I.T. knowledge and capability for Tribe.
- Research and develop I.T. applications to maximize system capabilities and ensure consistency in the areas of Document Management, Forms, and Databases.
- Supervise staff to ensure the following tasks are performed: routine maintenance and back-up for network server, maintenance of website, establishing service to new users and service calls to existing users, troubleshooting for network printers and equipment.
- Attend and participate in meetings and special project teams/committees as requested or assigned.
- Continual efforts to engage in the strategic planning of services and understanding the capabilities of current resources to assist in projected plans/services.
- Grant reporting.
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
- A Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field and eight (8) years of experience in staff management, resource management, server and desktop support.
- Must have knowledge and software skills in Microsoft (Office Suite including Access DB and ODBC support), Corel and Adobe products, various accounting systems, various web-based applications, Windows operating systems, security and backup solutions, SQL Server experience, network fundamentals, web development (HTML/XHTML, Dreamweaver, JavaScript, etc.).
- Must be able to maintain hardware (servers, computers and peripheral devices).
- Must have Microsoft certification, preferably MCSE/MCSA or equivalent.
- Prefer certification in Security+, A+, or equivalent.
- Prefer experience in Telecommunications, as it relates to computer networks.
- Must have strong leadership skills.
- Knowledge of teambuilding and teamwork principles.
- Must maintain confidentiality.

SALARY
- Annual Salary Range: $123,302 - $178,152
