Position Summary

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of South Florida (USF) is actively recruiting to fill an Open Rank academic position within the division of Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery. This board certified fellowship-trained urogynecologist will join our busy Urogynecology/URPS Division. Preference will be given to a candidate with academic experience and expertise to fill leadership roles within the division, including an open position for a URPS fellowship director. The primary focus will be the clinical care of urogynecologic patients at USF, supervision and teaching of urogynecology fellows, ob-gyn residents, and medical students, and conducting clinical research. Clinical responsibilities include office practice in urogynecology, office-based procedures, and gynecologic surgery.

Responsibilities

  • Clinical Care – Provide comprehensive Urogynecology care, including both ambulatory and inpatient services, with a commitment to excellence in patient outcomes and multidisciplinary collaboration.
  • Education & Mentorship – Teach and mentor medical students, residents, and fellows through lectures, clinical teaching, surgical training, and bedside instruction. Actively contribute to shaping the next generation of physicians and subspecialists.
  • Fellowship Leadership – Serve as Program Director for the ACGME-accredited Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery (URPS) fellowship. The Program Director must meet and maintain ACGME and institutional qualifications for this role and will be responsible for:
    • Designing and implementing the educational curriculum.
    • Overseeing program administration and compliance with accreditation standards.
    • Supervising and developing faculty educators.
    • Evaluating and supporting fellows to ensure their success in training and professional development.
    • Scholarship & Service – Engage in scholarly activity and contribute to the academic mission of the department through research, publications, and professional presentations. Provide academic advising and career guidance to learners.
    • Administration & Leadership – Participate in departmental, college, and university service. Represent the department as appropriate in institutional initiatives and external professional activities.

Qualifications

  • Must possess an MD or MD/Ph.D. degree from an accredited institution and be board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery. Candidates will have successfully completed a Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery fellowship.
  • Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic, research, and service.
  • For Associate/Full Professor - Normally will have produced creative work, professional writing or research in refereed and other professional journals and be a recognized authority in the field of specialization.
  • Must hold or be eligible for a full, unrestricted Florida Medical License or foreign equivalent required. To perform this position, the candidate will need to obtain and maintain a full unrestricted FL Medical License, maintain credentials in the USF Health faculty practice plan, and be a medical staff member in good standing at the hospitals he/she is assigned to perform clinical duties.
  • Board certified fellowship-trained urogynecologist.
