About Us

HomeAid Colorado (HACO) partners with the home building industry, nonprofits, and community leaders to build and improve housing and facilities for those experiencing or at risk of homelessness.

Role Overview

The Executive Director is the chief leader, strategist, and fundraiser for HACO. This role drives the mission by providing visionary leadership, forging partnerships, securing resources, and ensuring operational excellence and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Board Relations

  • Partner with the Board to set strategic direction, goals, and policies.
  • Serve as the primary spokesperson and ambassador to donors, industry leaders, nonprofits, and community stakeholders.
  • Recruit, engage, and support Board members to strengthen governance and fundraising.
  • Coach, lead and develop a small team of HACO professionals in their marketing, project management and engagement efforts.
  • Lead and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy, including major gifts, corporate sponsorships, grants, and events.
  • Cultivate, solicit, and steward donors; oversee recognition and engagement efforts.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with nonprofits, business leaders, and public officials.
  • Participate in Colorado Association of Home Builders, Association of General Contractors, Construction Industry Networking Group, Donors and other nonprofits across the state to form alliances.

Operations & Project Construction Oversight

  • Manage daily operations and ensure alignment with the national HomeAid mission, culture and standards.
  • Oversee housing and facility construction projects, including budgets, partnerships, and in‑kind contributions.
  • Direct marketing, public relations, and events to expand visibility and donor engagement.
  • ED will communicate and coordinate with the staff of HomeAid America (HAA) to assure that HomeAid Colorado’s activities and outcomes are in keeping with the organization’s national Mission, model, culture and standards, as dictated in the Affiliate Agreement between HACO and HAA.

Finance & Compliance

  • Develop and manage the annual budget and ensure sound fiscal practices.
  • Maintain compliance with all organizational, federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Work directly with an outside Accounting Team on payroll and basic accounting tasks.
  • Review and approve the monthly financials with the Executive Board.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years nonprofit leadership preferred, with a strong track record in fundraising and stakeholder engagement, preferably in a nonprofit, housing, or construction‑related field.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., nonprofit management, business administration, social work) or equivalent work experience.
  • Strong working proficiency in Microsoft Office, QuickBooks and Salesforce software platforms.
  • Exceptional relationship‑building, communication, and strategic planning skills.
  • Experience with community engagement and partnership building.
  • Financial management experience and construction management a plus.
  • Knowledge of nonprofit financial management and budgeting.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff, Board of Directors, donors, sponsors, and other stakeholders.
  • Passion for the organization’s mission and values.

Location

This position is primarily on‑site at our main office located at: 405 Urban Street, Ste. 340, Lakewood, Colorado 80228

Regular in‑person attendance is required Monday, Wednesday & Thursday.

Tuesday & Friday are optional remote workdays.

Ability to attend HACO-related functions outside of core business hours.

Physical Requirements

  • Travel requirement: less than 10% out of state and up to 40% across the Front Range.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds at times.

The successful candidate’s starting pay will be based on, but not limited to, their job‑related skills, experience, qualifications and market conditions. The position has a target annual salary of $110,000.00 - $130,000.00 with a discretionary bonus.

Employee benefits include 100% fully funded, employee only medical, dental and vision benefits, plus life insurance after 30 days of service.
