Here's a summary of responsibilities:

The Senior Director, Finance, will play a pivotal role in shaping the commercial division’s financial strategy and ensuring robust financial management and modeling across multiple revenue streams and business units. This individual will act as a strategic business partner to senior leadership, bringing financial discipline, commercial acumen, and analytical rigor to inform business decisions and long‑term planning. The Senior Director will collaborate with key stakeholders across all divisions to support the organization’s commercial goals.

The Senior Director will also collaborate with other members of the Finance leadership team to set the short‑term and long‑term strategy for the Finance department, direct policies and procedures, and ensure overall financial goals are met.

Here’s how you’ll have an impact:

Strategic & Financial Leadership

  • Develop and execute the financial strategy in alignment with the commercial division’s overall business goals and growth ambitions.
  • Partner with senior management and department heads to provide financial insights that support strategic initiatives, pricing, and investment decisions.
  • Evaluate new business opportunities, partnerships, sponsorships, and event ventures through financial modeling and ROI analysis.
  • Support long‑range planning and growth initiatives, including market expansion and new product and service offerings.
  • Partner with business and commercial strategy leaders to construct business plans, including financial models and budget analysis.
  • Periodically present to the USOPC Board of Directors and/or affiliated commercial committees to provide updates and progress of strategic objectives, challenges, and opportunities. Present to external stakeholder groups such as NGBs, LA28, UT34, and other affiliated organizations.
  • Oversee all aspects of the division’s financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning.
  • Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain KPIs and dashboards that clearly communicate financial performance to executive leadership.
  • Create a phased hiring plan for the new finance team, defining roles and responsibilities to support the new commercial division/entity.
  • Manage relationships with tax advisors, banks, and investors.

Operational & Commercial Support

  • Drive profitability analysis of events, sponsorship deals, new product or service proposals, and hospitality packages to optimize margin and cost efficiency.
  • Support contract negotiations and commercial terms through financial assessment and risk evaluation.
  • Implement systems and processes to enhance financial transparency, efficiency, and data‑driven decision‑making.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Here are the skills and experience you'll need to be effective:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field (MBA and/or CPA preferred)
  • 12‑15+ years of progressive finance experience, ideally within sports, marketing, events, hospitality, media, or professional services
  • Experience with not‑for‑profit organizations
  • 3+ years of experience managing people
  • Experience with ERP systems
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite and other financial systems, including advanced Excel and PowerPoint capability
  • Strong leadership skills in motivating, coaching, and developing teams
  • Demonstrated experience supporting revenue‑generating teams and complex projects with multiple stakeholders
  • Strong background in financial planning & analysis, commercial finance, and business partnering roles
  • Advanced financial modeling and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate financial data into business insights
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and decision‑making skills
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to partner across a complex organization
  • Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make strategic recommendations to leadership
  • Ability to thrive in rapidly changing environments with tight deadlines
  • Commitment to integrity, ethics, and transparent business practices

Here's some more information you need to know:
  • Hiring pay range $135,000 - $170,000 per year
  • This Full‑Time, Exempt position is intended to work 40 hours per week.
  • Bonus: This position will be eligible for the Annual Incentive Award Program, which has a 20% target. The USOPC may change or eliminate this program at any time at its sole discretion.
