February 26, 2026 Director of Children’s Ministries Jefferson United Methodist Church Hours: 10 per week Salary: $12,000 Reports To: Pastor and Pastor Parish Relations Committee The primary mission of the Director of Children’s Ministries will be: To plan, coordinate, and implement the educational and fellowship activities of the JUMC Children’s Ministry with the goal of helping children grow spiritually and emotionally. Experience: Proven experience in teaching or mentoring children. Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire volunteers. Excellent communication skills for engaging with children, parents, volunteers, and church leadership. Experience with event planning and program development. The Director of Children’s Ministries has specific responsibility for these tasks: Recruit, train, and support volunteers who work with children during worship services and other program and events. Organize and oversee Sunday morning children’s programs including children’s sermons and Children’s Church. Coordinate the nursery schedule and insure there is adequate staffing, finding substitutes if needed. Attend Sunday morning activities and assist in children’s programs as needed. Oversee the 345 program, a middle school group that meets monthly. Coordinate Back-to-School events (Blessing of the Backpacks, Bibles for 2nd Graders). Plan and coordinate confirmation program and confirmation Sunday events. Plan and lead Vacation Bible School. Plan and coordinate Trunk or Treat and Spring Fling. Work with pastor to plan and direct the Children’s Christmas Pageant. Select and provide United Methodist approved curriculum for Children’s Church, Sunday School Pre-School nursery and other programs. Attend scheduled staff meetings. Other duties as assigned.
