What You Will Do: The Distribution Designer handles field design and staking of overhead and underground line extensions, ensuring compliance with RUS and NESC standards to support safe, efficient system expansion. Acting as a liaison across departments, this role fosters collaboration for quality service delivery. The position participates in a three-year development program to build technical, field, and regulatory expertise, preparing the Designer for independent complex design work and strategic contributions.
What You Bring to Trico:
A high school diploma or equivalent plus one year of electric utility distribution design classes, with two (2) years’ experience in survey, design, mapping, and related fields within the electric utility industry.
A valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record are required for this position.
Proficiency in AutoCAD (version 2020 or newer) is required, with the ability to efficiently create, modify, and interpret technical drawings and design layouts.
Familiarity with Automated Utility Design (AUD) software and its application in utility design workflows is preferred.
Experience using NISC iVUE software for utility operations, customer service, or engineering functions is preferred.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
Ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure.
Ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
