Job Description Program Goal:
Summer Partners for Language and Learning (SPELL) provides Multilingual Learners theme-based language development activities in the morning and enrichment experiences provided by community partners in the afternoon. The Assistant Director will work closely with the Director to ensure effective delivery of the program as well as the health and safety of students.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience supervising multi-dimensional program(s) (student safety, program planning, supervision of staff, interns, and volunteers, managing supplies, etc.)
Experience and aptitude for building and sustaining collaboration with community partners
Experience in program development, curriculum design, monitoring student progress, and in providing professional development to staff
Ability to maintain a safe and healthy environment for students; maintains and responds to social and emotional needs of students and staff
Knowledge and appreciation of cultural difference; commitment to removing barriers to equity, access, and inclusion
Bilingual/multilingual and ability to communicate with diverse students and families
Responsibilities:
School year job requirements including planning and coordination time during out of school hours
Summer School Session: Must be available for on-site support for summer session
Must be available for professional development the week of June 2026
Assist SPELL Director in responding to crisis situations and be point of contact for staff, student and families when needed
Assist SPELL Director in keeping track of daily attendance and notify supervisor(s) of students with attendance concerns
Ensure program clean-up happens at the end of program
Daily hours to be determined as needed in coordination with supervisor and program schedule
Office site to be determined
Other duties as assigned
SPELL Program Professional Development for all SPELL staff will take place in the last week on June or first week of July.
