
Marketing Communications Associate – External Communications

OVERVIEW
The D. E. Shaw group seeks a proactive, resourceful, and detail-oriented individual to join its External Communications group as an associate on its Marketing Communications team. This team produces fundraising materials and investor-focused communications that are integral to our firm’s fundraising, client service, and asset retention efforts across products. The position offers the opportunity to leverage project management and communication skills while collaborating in a collegial and dynamic environment.
WHAT YOU'LL DO DAY-TO-DAY
Draft, review, and edit investor-focused communications (e.g., pitch decks, client presentations, RFP responses, due diligence questionnaires) with rigor and precision in support of the firm’s current and new investment products.
Coordinate with various groups across the firm, including investment teams, Investor Relations, Legal & Compliance, and Financial Operations.
Ideate, manage, and implement projects to support the team’s technology/GAI initiatives and infrastructure to further its strategic growth.
Gain significant exposure to all aspects of the firm’s investment products.
WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR
A bachelor’s degree or higher and at least two to five years of experience in roles requiring impressive project management, organizational, and analytical abilities.
Exceptional attention to detail, high standards, and well-developed writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
A process-oriented mindset, with the ability to execute short-term tasks while managing long-term projects effectively, and the desire to work as part of a team.
Individuals who work effectively with colleagues of varying seniorities both within and outside their team are highly valued.
Previous experience in financial services is not required, though the ability to quickly grasp financial concepts and a general interest in financial markets are both advantageous.
The expected annual base salary for this position is $135,000 to $185,000. Our compensation and benefits package includes variable compensation in the form of a year-end bonus and benefits including medical and prescription drug coverage, 401(k) contribution matching, wellness reimbursement, family building benefits, and a charitable gift match program.
