Horse Riding Program Director Camp Laurel South – Casco, Maine Seasonal Leadership Position (On-Site) Position Overview Camp Laurel South is seeking a Horse Riding Program Director to lead and oversee our equestrian program at our premier residential summer camp in Maine’s Sebago Lakes region. This is a leadership role responsible for curriculum design, staff supervision, rider development, horse welfare, and overall program management. The Riding Director serves as a member of the camp’s leadership team and plays a key role in shaping a safe, structured, and inspiring riding experience for campers. This is not an entry-level instructor position. We are seeking an experienced equestrian professional ready to take ownership of a program. Key Responsibilities Design and implement structured lesson progression for riders of varying skill levels Supervise, mentor, and evaluate riding staff Maintain high safety standards and enforce riding protocols Ensure proper horse care, welfare, and barn organization Oversee daily scheduling and program operations Communicate with camp leadership regarding program needs Foster a positive, confidence-building environment for campers Participate as a member of the camp’s program leadership team Qualifications Strong riding background (hunter/jumper, dressage, eventing, or related disciplines) Experience teaching riding lessons to youth Prior supervisory or leadership experience preferred Knowledge of horse care, stable management, and safety standards Ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a structured camp environment Professional, organized, and safety-focused mindset What We Offer Leadership-level responsibility and program ownership A supportive and collaborative leadership team A beautiful lakefront camp setting in Maine The opportunity to mentor young riders and junior staff Competitive seasonal compensation About Camp Laurel South Camp Laurel South is a highly regarded residential summer camp located on Crescent Lake in Maine.
