The Employee Relations Specialist is responsible for managing all aspects of employee relations across the organization. This role serves as the primary point of contact for ethics hotline calls, conducts investigations, partners closely with leaders, and provides guidance on next steps for resolution. The ideal candidate excels in documentation, maintains organized and compliant case files, and brings experience in depositions, mediations, and employment law. This position also serves as the backup support for the MidAtlantic HR Generalist, including pre-boarding and orientation responsibilities. This position supports projects and offices in the Mid-Atlantic, Arizona, Iowa, Arkansas, Oakland, Sacramento, Hawaii, and San Diego.
Employee Relations & Investigations
Serve as the primary contact for all ethics hotline calls and ensure timely intake, review, and followup.
Conduct thorough employee relations investigations, including interviews, evidence review, findings, and recommended actions.
Partner with leaders to develop solutions, corrective actions, and next steps for each situation.
Maintain objectivity, confidentiality, and compliance throughout all ER processes.
Prepare documentation for potential depositions, mediations, and legal matters as required.
Ensure accurate, timely, and well-organized case file management.
Compliance & Employment Law
Stay current with federal, state, and local employment laws and recommend policy updates as needed.
Ensure ER processes align with legal and organizational standards.
Support HR leadership with compliance reviews, risk mitigation, and audit preparation.
HR Support - MidAtlantic Region
Serve as the backup to the MidAtlantic HR Generalist.
Support preboarding processes, including background checks, new hire paperwork, and communication with candidates.
Assist with delivery of new hire orientations and HR onboarding tasks as needed.
Collaboration & Communication
Build strong relationships with leaders, managers, and employees to foster a culture of trust and accountability.
Provide guidance on conflict resolution, performance issues, and HR policy interpretation.
Partner with HR team members on projects, process improvements, and training initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
3-5 years of experience in employee relations, HR investigations, or related HR roles.
Experience in depositions, mediations, or legal proceedings strongly preferred.
Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws.
Exceptional documentation, organization, and file management skills.
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization with an open, honest, and clear communication style that establishes an empathetic and effective relationship with stakeholders.
Being able to collaborate and influence effectively builds strong relationships and partnerships within the company.
Able to work with sensitive, confidential information; a high level of demonstrated discretion and judgment.
