Job Description: Customer Sales Representative

Job Summary A Customer Sales Representative develops and maintains business relationships with new and existing customers. Conducts the internal customer sales process and sales functions. Collaborates with the operations team in a highly responsive, fast paced environment.
Essential Duties
Develops and maintains strong relationships with current and prospective customers through persistent contact by phone or email
Determines and evaluates customer needs, negotiates and formulates rate proposals, and prepares sales correspondence
Works collaboratively with internal Carrier Sales and Support team members to ensure customer needs are met
Updates logistics management software (LMS) throughout the day to maintain accuracy in sales and volume data
Works closely with Operations Manager, Team Captains and VP of Business Development to achieve individual, team, and company goals
Resolves all customer issues and takes ownership of any problem situations
Conducts sales meetings, business reviews, and occasionally in-person events
Manages multiple projects simultaneously with a sense of urgency
Updates customer specific websites, databases, and LMS
Meets individual productivity goals (ex. phone calls made, total talk time, etc.)
Works non-traditional schedule which may include after-hours, off shifts, or weekends
Experience and Skills
Required: 2 years of experience in transportation/logistics operations management or sales
Previously demonstrated high performance in logistics carrier sales
Ability to solve problems and make decisions quickly
Self-motivated with an entrepreneurial mindset
Intermediate computer skills (i.e. Microsoft Office, customer web sites, keyboard proficiency, etc.)
General understanding of the industry, rates and equipment
Strong negotiation skills
Strong attention to details
Education Requirements
Required: High School Diploma/GED equivalent
Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in transportation logistics/freight management
Supervisory Responsibility Though this position has no supervisory responsibilities, exerting positive influence with team members is required.
Work Environment This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment.
Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This job operates in a physical office environment and is largely a sedentary role. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands, arms and fingers to effectively operate computer equipment and handle and/or lift objects up to 20 pounds.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This position is primarily a weekday position scheduled within standard daytime business hours. The position may occasionally require individuals to work outside of normal daytime business hours to handle business needs associated with the position responsibilities.
Introductory Period Progress reports at 30 and 60 days with a review by management at 90 days.
