A well-known luxury fashion brand based in New York is looking for a
Freelance Hardware & Trim Assistant
to support their Design and Production teams onsite.
Position Summary This role supports Design, Production, and Atelier teams by managing trim development, organization, testing, and system entry. The ideal candidate has strong raw materials experience and is comfortable working within RLM systems.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate garment mockups and trim trials to send to factories for functionality testing
Place and track local orders for zippers, buttons, and metal trims
Arrange testing materials to the Hong Kong office
Follow up with design, production, and vendors to ensure trims are delivered on time
Relabel, shelf, and organize trim inventory to maintain a logical library system
Maintain detailed records from trim adoption through pre-production
Create and manage trim codes in RLM
Enter and maintain trim information in RLM, development charts, and trim binders
Manage receipt and filing of new trims in the library
Assist designers with pulling trim samples for meetings
Send color standards and references to suppliers
Organize seasonal materials and update detail charts
Qualifications
1–2 years of raw materials or trim experience
Understanding of RLM systems required (ERP & PLM)
Highly organized with strong attention to detail
Strong communication skills and ability to multitask in a fast-
