Position Overview An established MEP consulting firm is seeking a Plumbing Designer with 4–6+ years of experience in commercial building systems design. This role will focus heavily on K-12 and higher education projects, along with municipal, institutional, and light healthcare work.
The ideal candidate is technically strong, comfortable working in Revit, and capable of contributing to projects from schematic design through construction administration. This is a growth-oriented opportunity within a collaborative consulting environment.
Key Responsibilities
Design plumbing systems for K-12, higher education, municipal, and commercial projects
Develop domestic water, sanitary, storm drainage, natural gas, and specialty plumbing systems
Perform fixture counts, equipment sizing, and system calculations
Coordinate closely with mechanical, electrical, structural, and architectural disciplines
Develop detailed construction documents in Revit
Participate in client meetings and internal design reviews
Review submittals, respond to RFIs, and support construction administration
Ensure designs comply with applicable codes and standards
Qualifications
4–6 years of plumbing design experience within an MEP consulting environment
Strong experience on education projects (K-12 and/or higher education required)
Proficiency in Revit; AutoCAD experience a plus
Solid understanding of plumbing codes and building systems design
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or related field preferred
CPD (Certified in Plumbing Design) preferred
PE license or active path toward licensure preferred
Strong communication and coordination skills
