The Marketing Technology and Operations Manager supports the firm’s Marketing and Business Development (MBD) team and other key stakeholders by maintaining effective technology, reliable data, and consistent processes. This role bridges strategy and execution by partnering with MBD leadership to align platforms and workflows that strengthen client engagement and contribute to firm growth.

The Marketing Technology and Operations Manager is highly adept with marketing technology, project management, and communication skills and can proactively identify martech issues, recommend solutions, and drive business development and marketing success. Maintains professionalism and strict confidentiality in all client and firm matters.

Katten offers a hybrid work model, allowing the flexibility to work both on-site and remotely on a regular basis (KattenFlex). This position requires onsite presence twice a month and otherwise on an as needed basis.

Partners with the Director of Marketing and Engagement, martech team members, and consulting partners on the configuration, implementation, and adoption of the firm’s new CRM (Salesforce).

Oversees day-to-day administration of the firm’s CRM, ERM, email marketing, website, interconnected database, project management, and related martech platforms.

Partners with stakeholders to improve data quality, completeness, and consistency across key marketing systems, establishing clear ownership and accountability across all systems.

Helps implement processes for periodic data review, identify anomalies and collaborate with appropriate team members to address issues that impact reporting or decision-making.

Metrics and Insights

Oversee the development and maintenance of reports and dashboards in Salesforce and Power BI, working with team members to ensure accuracy and usability.

Delivers insights with context by highlighting trends and recommending actionable insights based on marketing and client data.

Process, Governance & Training

Establishes, documents, and communicates processes, SOPs, and best practices in partnership with MBD leadership to drive consistency, compliance, and accountability for the firm’s martech platforms.

Manage training and adoption efforts for MBD team members and attorneys, coordinating with IT and other stakeholders, and tracking progress toward defined adoption goals.

Ensures work is thorough, accurate, and followed through to completion.

Lead annual evaluation of the marketing technology (martech) ecosystem to assess utilization, integration effectiveness and measurable ROI, while eliminating redundancies, optimizing vendor spend and ensuring the martech budget is actively managed with financial discipline and alignment to the firm’s strategic growth priorities.

Supports evaluation and implementation of new technologies in partnership with the Director of Marketing and Engagement and IT to support MBD goals.

Stays informed on martech trends and shares recommendations for ongoing improvement.

Manages martech vendor relationships, contracts, renewals, and system enhancements, and oversees cross-department martech projects to ensure timely and high-quality execution.

Partners with MBD team members, attorneys, and administrative teams to ensure martech platforms and processes support business needs.

Provides proactive guidance and reliable support, taking ownership of outcomes even when problems arise.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises and manages employees and is responsible for their overall direction, coordination, and evaluation. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the firm’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training, and developing employees; planning, assigning, leveraging and directing work; appraising performance; promoting and compensating employees; making recommendations to the budget; rewarding, disciplining, and terminating employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Bachelor’s degree in information systems, or related field, with 7+ years of martech experience in a professional services environment (law firm experience is preferred).

Hands‑on experience with Salesforce required; Salesforce certification preferred.

Expertise in managing and integrating email marketing platforms, marketing automation platforms, Google Analytics and other martech tools.

Strong analytical and organizational skills, including the ability to identify anomalies, ask critical questions, prioritize effectively, and deliver accurate work under tight deadlines.

Ability to oversee and add value to Marketing and Business Development reporting and analysis.

Proven ability to manage teams, enforce accountability, and mentor junior staff.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with experience training and supporting diverse users.

Strong client‑service orientation, with excellent troubleshooting, problem resolution, and follow‑through skills.

Ability to occasionally retrieve and distribute marketing materials, written documentation, or office supplies weighing up to 20 pounds.

Travel to other firm locations may be required when necessary.

The annualized salary range for this position in our New York office is $150,000 to $180,000. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience and other job‑related factors permitted by law.
