This employee performs professional purchasing and procurement work for the City of Brady. Responsible for planning, coordinating, and administering all City purchasing, inventory management, and procurement activities in compliance with State law and City policy.
Duties
Preparing and issuing purchase orders
Developing bid specifications and proposals
Coordinating bid openings
Negotiating pricing and contracts with vendors
Maintaining inventory and fixed asset records
Conducting inventory and fleet audits
Reconciling purchasing records with the general ledger
Assisting departments with purchasing procedures and budget coordination
Also responsible for managing insurance coverage for City assets and coordinating IT‑related purchasing and inventory.
Must be able to communicate effectively and professionally with City departments, vendors, auditors, and the public. Performs other related duties as directed.
Requirements Work schedule is typically 5 days per week, 40 hours, with additional hours as required for bid openings, audits, or emergency situations. Primarily office environment with occasional lifting of supplies and equipment up to 35 pounds.
Must have an Associate’s Degree (or equivalent) and at least 4 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, inventory management, or related field. Valid Texas Driver’s License required.
Preferred certifications include CPB, CPM, or CPPO.
Minimum pay is $21.76, dependent on qualifications and experience.
