Director of Security Location: Waldorf Astoria, The Roosevelt, New Orleans, Louisiana.

Overview The iconic Waldorf Astoria property in New Orleans, The Roosevelt, is seeking a Director of Security to join our team. Our luxury hotel boasts 504 rooms, over 60,000 square feet of meeting space, and five food and beverage outlets, including two restaurants, a café, a seasonal rooftop bar, and in‑room dining. Situated near the French Quarter and within walking distance of the city’s most vibrant attractions and entertainment, the hotel is a centerpiece of Southern hospitality and world‑class service.

Responsibilities

Direct the flow of guest traffic (crowd control) in the lobby during high operational and peak times.

Administer all safety and security operations, including preserving the safety of guests and team members, safe work practice promotion, OSHA compliance, safety incentive programs, systems use and management, lost and found, budgeting and forecasting, department management, and adherence to federal, state and local standards.

Patrol the interior and perimeter of the hotel and property to observe and identify potential safety and security risks.

Lead investigations of accidents, thefts, property loss and unlawful activities.

Respond to emergency situations, including safety hazards, fires, medical emergencies and threats to life and/or property.

Serve as primary liaison with federal, state and local law enforcement.

Oversee the administration and accuracy of all required reports and documentation.

Respond to guest inquiries and requests, resolving issues in a timely, friendly and efficient manner.

Monitor and develop team member performance, including supervision, professional development, scheduling, counseling, evaluations and recognition.

Recruit, interview and train team members.

Qualifications & Knowledge

Basic mathematical comprehension for interpreting operations data.

Proficiency in reading, writing, speaking and understanding English.

Strong interpersonal skills to deal with internal and external customers, including patience, tact and diplomacy.

Analytical ability and sound judgment.

Experience entering data into moderately complex computer systems.

Education

High school graduate or equivalent (required).

4‑year college degree preferred.

Experience

Minimum 2 years of experience in a Director role or similar.

Previous Director of Safety and Security (Loss Prevention) or progressive experience in the role.
