Under limited supervision, the Director of Reporting and Research provides technical expertise and collaborative leadership to ensure district data is both accessible and actionable. The Director directly designs, builds, and maintains ongoing reports and data products tailored to the evolving needs of school and district leadership.

The Director must exercise considerable leadership involving frequent contact with school officials, fellow employees, and subordinate employees. The Director has the additional responsibility for the continued growth and development of data reporting capabilities for the District. Additionally, the Director provides leadership, training, and support to ensure the security and reliability of student data, in accordance with State and Federal requirements.

Reporting

Scheduled Reporting:

Manages regularly scheduled reports for district leadership, school leadership, and state and federal reports

Manages the Advanced Math Course Report, Principal's Monthly Report, EVAAS Roster Verification, Legislative Class Size Reporting, and other state reports

Collaborates on Civil Rights Data Collection and Board Reports as directed

Owns Attendance and Discipline Reporting

Consulting:

Consults with school administrators to improve their ability to interpret and utilize data effectively.

Liaison:

Serves as a District contact and liaison between CHCCS and the NC Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) for EVAAS, CRDC, and Discipline Reporting.

EVAAS Leads Roster Verification and provides on-demand professional learning

Research

Ad Hoc Data Requests:

Collaborates with the Executive Director to fulfill ad hoc data requests

Surveys:

Collaborates on developing and administering district and selected ad hoc surveys

Data Visualization:

Leads data visualization and use of reporting tools

Analytical Storytelling:

Uses analytical storytelling to put numbers into action steps to tell the story of district data/trends in presentations to the Board of Education, Senior Leadership Team, District Leadership Team, and other stakeholder groups.

Creates an effective partnership with the Executive Director of Research, Assessment, & Student Information to meet the District's Accountability and Reporting needs by sharing tasks as needed

Dedicated to protecting student and staff data privacy through training, and review and revision of procedures

Leadership and Team Membership

RASI (Research Assessment and Student Information) Team:

Active participant in developing a cohesive RASI team in regular meetings and sharing professional growth

Active Team Member:

Serves as an active member of the District Leadership Team (DLT) and ISEED (Instructional Services, Equity and Engagement Division)

Other Duties:

Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent

Education and Experience Requirements

Degree:

Master’s degree in data analytics, research, or a related field preferred

Technical Expertise:

Managing large datasets and spreadsheets to facilitate report development

Tools:

Proficiency with PowerBI, Tableau, or similar data visualization tools

Experience:

5+ years of experience in education outside the classroom

Traits:

Physical Requirements

Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards
