Atomic Physicist for Ion Trapping & Integrated Photonics - 636

Stryker Corporation, Broomfield, CO, United States

Atomic Physicist for Ion Trapping & Integrated Photonics We are seeking an Atomic Physicist for Ion Trapping & Integrated Photonics in our Broomfield, CO location. Our team is developing integrated photonics technologies that will enable scaling of our trapped‑ion quantum computers from our current 98‑qubit Helios system to our future 1,000,000‑qubit Lumos system, in line with Quantinuum's system roadmap. The data and expertise from our group inform the design of next‑generation systems, including Apollo and Lumos, from the big ideas to the tiniest of details. We are looking for experimental scientists and engineers with hands‑on experience building and operating complex atomic physics systems, taking and analyzing datasets, and collaborating across disciplines. Research shows that applicants belonging to historically marginalized groups might feel hesitant to apply if they do not match 100 % of the requirements. Please consider applying even if you think you're only a partial match.

Key Responsibilities

Work closely with a small team and a broad range of collaborators to design, develop, verify, and deploy methods and technologies pushing the frontier of ion‑based quantum computers.

Build, run, and maintain a new trapped‑ion testbed to support innovation in next‑generation ion traps with integrated photonics.

Support the study of the impact of novel trap materials and integrated photonics devices on trapped ions.

Take and communicate trapped‑ion data to inform decisions on Apollo and Lumos system architecture, photonics design, fabrication techniques, and the performance of next‑generation quantum computers.

Collaborate and work with a diverse team, including atomic physicists, engineers, and fabrication experts to validate integrated photonic and trapped‑ion technologies.

Plan, design, and build new equipment to target the high‑sensitivity requirements for an ion‑trap‑based quantum computer.

Communicate results both internally and externally through documentation, publications, and presentations.

Work in a research lab environment to collect and analyze data on system and device performance.
