Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health is one of the largest and most advanced behavioral healthcare organizations in the country. Devereux California is nestled near the beaches between the Pacific Coast and Santa Ynez mountains; it offers residential services, community living, day programs and clinical services for adults with multiple diagnoses, including autistic spectrum disorders, emotional and/or behavioral differences, intellectual and developmental disabilities, dementia and other cognitive disorders.
Duties Under the supervision of a BCBA, the Behavior Interventionist works directly with clients with behavioral challenges and provides staff training to support generalization throughout the day. Additional duties include but are not limited to:
Reducing problem behaviors while teaching functionally equivalent replacement behaviors.
Implementing the behavior plans of each individual and responding with appropriate proactive and reactive strategies to reduce problem behaviors and support assessments and D-PBIS.
Providing direction, training and mentorship to family members and staff relative to behavioral strategies and implementation of individual behavior programs.
Working under the direction of a BCBA and receiving ongoing training and supervision.
The hours for this position will vary based on client needs, with schedules typically between 9 am–6:30 pm and 12 pm–8:30 pm. Typical work days are Monday–Friday, but weekend availability may be needed on rare occasions. Both full-time and part-time positions are available. Initial training and clients may be in Santa Barbara/Goleta; candidates must be able to work in the area as needed.
Qualifications
Education: 12 semester units in applied behavior analysis and one year of experience in designing/implementing behavior modification intervention services; or
Two years of experience in designing/implementing behavior modification intervention services.
Experience:
1–2 years of experience in designing/implementing behavior modification intervention services.
Physical Requirements
Must take and pass Safe and Positive Approaches (S&PA) training, including initial orientation and re-certifications.
Significant walking, sitting, stooping, bending and standing are required.
Frequent use of computers and office equipment.
Frequent outside activities with exposure to sunlight and potential inclement weather.
Annual TB test every 12 months showing evidence of being free of infectious pulmonary tuberculosis.
