Designer/Drafter 1 & 2 (Mechanical)

Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for Designer/Drafter 1&2 (Mechanical) opportunities in Los Alamos, NM, to support the Los Alamos National Laboratory.
Per Diem available for those who qualify.
Location: 100% onsite (TA-3 Otowi)
Group/Organization: PIE-CRO
Schedule: 4/10s M-Thur (5a-330p)
Key Responsibilities
Performs preconstruction design reviews and ensures designs are ready to execute.
Performs material takeoffs from native files and helps procurement order correct materials.
Performs 2-phase review cycle (initial and final), supplies craft execution with shop drawings, setting drawings with dimensions to use as guides to assist in order and installing equipment.
Perform walkdowns in TA-55, PF4, and various warehouses – use of government vehicle to go back and forth. (PF4 is a rad area, candidate would need to be able to walk in there).
Produces and details routine drawings/layouts of components, facilities and/or systems.
Generates and/or modifies computer-aided design (CAD) drawings of moderate complexity based on information from others.
Develops basic computer-aided design (CAD) drawings and design models under the direction of a senior designer.
Uses industry codes, standards, and customer specifications to prepare work plans, drawings and layouts.
Applies engineering design principles to design and fabrication of components and assemblies as directed.
Understands fabrication, construction, operation, and maintenance requirements relevant to designated discipline.
Works with engineering team to ensure drawing quality.
Performs calculations in support of technical problems.
Produce work in accordance with budget and schedule constraints.
Participates in process improvement activities.
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma
Level 1: One-to-two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Level 2: Three-to-five years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Desired Skills
Experience with Building Integrated Model (BIM) drafting tool.
CAD certification. No preference to which version.
Other Job Requirements
United States Citizenship
Must be able to obtain and maintain DOE Q Security Clearance. Existing clearance preferred.
