Our client, a fashion brand, is seeking an
Assistant Designer
to support their Women's Soft Dressing/ Wovens team in New York!
Responsibilities:
Conduct in-depth seasonal research on tears, ideas, and inspirations to support the creation of compelling design boards and presentations
Create detailed hand flat sketches and CAD all sketches in Photoshop, must be able to capture all design details, proportion, and understand the movement of the garment
Create and manage all design records, including tech packs, sketches, CADS, development binders, and handoffs
Create y/d stripes, plaids, and work on creating/recoloring prints
Assist in all aspects of daily follow-up with external and internal partners
Collaborate with the fabric team to research and select materials that align with brand aesthetics, quality, and sustainability objectives
Participate in fit sessions, and update sketches and BOM according to any changes made during the fitting
Work closely with cross functional teams to ensure all information is accurate and updated throughout the entire design cycle
Assist in reviewing incoming design samples, submits, and strike-offs
Maintain a thorough knowledge of the entire line and is responsible for updating all changes
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Design preferred/1-2+ years of experience in apparel design, preferably in Soft Dressing/Wovens
Must have strong hand sketching and CAD skills
Must be proficient in Adobe Photoshop/Adobe Illustrator
Have a strong attention to detail and understanding of garment construction
Must be a team player with strong interpersonal skills and take initiative when team is in need
Works with a sense of urgency and ability to complete tasks with speed, ease, and accuracy
Excellent organization skills with ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects simultaneously
Strong attention to detail
Strong communication and follow-up skills: verbal and handwritten
