Role Overview We are seeking a
UI/UX Designer Developer
for a long‑term contract supporting a large‑scale Accessibility and User Experience initiative. The role focuses on developing standards, templates, and testing guidance for
over 300 custom .NET applications , ensuring they are
WCAG 2.1 AA compliant , mobile‑friendly, intuitive, and consistent across devices.
This is a multi‑year effort with high visibility and strong potential for ongoing extension.
Hybrid onsite in Madison, WI
(downtown)
Candidates must
reside in Wisconsin
or
relocate within 30 days
First week is fully onsite for onboarding (5 days)
Work must be performed
within Wisconsin and within the U.S.
Occasional after‑hours support for deployments
Must provide reliable high‑speed internet for remote work
Key Responsibilities
Develop UI/UX
standards, processes, templates, and style guidance
for custom applications
Ensure designs and applications meet
WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility requirements
Conduct accessibility and mobile‑friendly testing, reviews, and audits
Create wireframes, prototypes, user flows, and design documentation
Partner with architects, supervisors, developers, and cross‑functional teams
Recommend improvements to accessibility, usability, and mobile performance
Define and document
testing scenarios, compliance processes, and metrics
Support Agile ceremonies and manage deliverables within
Azure DevOps
Present design recommendations to stakeholders and project teams
Troubleshoot UI/UX issues and help maintain an issue/resolution inventory
Required Skills & Experience (Advanced level unless noted; 4+ years unless specified)
Designing accessible, mobile‑friendly UIs meeting
WCAG 2.1 AA / ADA Section 508
Implementing accessibility and usability standards
Accessibility tools:
Lighthouse, Axe DevTools, NVDA, JAWS, ARIA, ANDI
Experience with
.NET-based environments
Creating test plans and documentation
Applying SDLC and Agile/Scrum practices
Strong communication and presentation skills
UX research, persona development, and user‑centered design practices
Ability to work independently and manage timelines effectively
Preferred Skills
Experience working in large public‑sector or enterprise environments
Proficiency with Microsoft tools:
SharePoint, Teams, Visio, PowerPoint, Excel
UX certifications or formal training
