
Sales Manager (Group and Business Travel)

We are looking for a well-rounded Sales Manager to oversee our Group and Business Travel Sales. The ideal candidate will drive revenue by acquiring, managing, and retaining corporate and local business travel accounts, and group business (10 or more guest rooms on peak). This individual will collaborate closely with the Director of Sales to develop effective sales strategies, negotiate rates, conduct site inspections, and analyze market trends to maximize occupancy, Average Daily Rate, and banquet revenues.
***Core onsite work hours of 8:30 am-5:30 pm, Monday-Friday. Occasional evenings and weekend work will be required as job duties demand. ***Must have prior hotel sales experience. Must have reliable transportation.
Maximize revenue by selling all facets of the hotel within assigned market segments, utilizing effective written and oral communication.
Build and strengthen relationships with new and existing customers through sales calls, trade shows, and chamber functions.
Conduct effective outside sales activities, including prospecting for new accounts and maintaining current accounts at their place of business.
Use negotiating and communication skills to close on business sales opportunities. Respond to RFPs in a professional and timely manner with appropriate pricing and presentation.
Work with the Director of Sales and the sales team to maximize all rate, date, space, and food and beverage commitments, ensuring the highest yield for the hotel.
Maintain prime selling time and work from a solicitation plan weekly, critiquing and building upon successes while letting go of non-producing leads.
Initiate and react to financial trend analysis for rate, revenue, occupancy, market segments, and forecasting.
Contribute to the marketing plan and budgeting to ensure the hotel is correctly positioned in the marketplace.
Communicating with internal departments and stakeholders about the significance and details of the potential business opportunities at the hotel.
Strong presentation skills in travel office appointments and client appreciation events.
Assisting the team with planning monthly/quarterly sales blitzes and annual vendor fairs, from help with planning to execution.
Maintain communication with clients regarding blocks and space commitments, revising as appropriate.
Book and detail BEOs on occasion and attend operational detailing meetings as needed.
Perform sales-related duties, including returning phone calls related to booked business, writing contracts, preparing promotional materials, and completing sales reports.
Maintain neat, accurate, and organized sales reports, files, and history.
Participate in weekly sales meetings, offering ideas related to ways to improve hotel marketability.
Represent the hotel in at least one community or industry organization and participate in industry networking events.
Maintain excellent client relations through regular meetings.
Meet hotel administrative standards such as GRC, Diary standards, file and trace system, space release and diary matrix, contract and cancellation standards, and deposit policies.
Conduct self in a friendly and attentive manner during all guest encounters.
Maintain a positive and safe work environment, adhering to all safety policies and procedures.
Delphi FDC experience is preferred; Hilton experience is a plus.
Accountability
Responsible for individual performance and incremental contribution to the hotel.
Responsible for effectively communicating and managing time commitments.
Responsible for meeting and/or exceeding guest room and banquet revenue, room night targets, and activity targets.
Candidate is expected to learn and understand the roles, responsibilities, and business of the clients with whom we partner.
Responsible for using the appropriate account management tools to effectively track activities, opportunities, and follow up.
Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
2+ years hotel sales experience.
Delphi FDC experience is preferred; Hilton experience is a plus.
Physical Requirements
Travel is primarily local during the business day; some out-of-area and overnight travel will be required.
Ability to travel to client locations.
Ability to stand, climb stairs, sit, and bend as needed.
