Your Responsibilities As a

Tool Designer

for

JD Waterloo Works

located in

Waterloo, IA

you will:

Concept, design, and model custom parts, assemblies, and create fabrication prints that will be used to manufacture fixtures and/or gages for our production machining and assembly operations

Collaborate with a diverse group of team members and stake holders in a fast-paced environment to create safe, ergonomic, high quality, and effective designs and print packages that can be fabricated with standard machine tools and/or additive manufacturing

What Skills You Need

1+ year of experience with current or a recent release of one or more of the following: Creo, SolidWorks, or Inventor, using the software to design and fully detail custom tools, fixtures, and/or gages to build production intent tooling

Able to work from written and verbal work direction

Proficient specifying component raw materials and heat treat/surface finish based on tool application

Proficient selecting/sizing/specifying purchased items for designs based on tool application

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Proficient using MS Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

Ability to work overtime, weekends, and off-shift based on business needs

What Makes You Stand Out

Experience designing custom fixtures or gages for the agriculture industry

Working knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulics w/ ability to create schematics and perform calculations to size/specify component

PDM (Product Data Management) Link experience

Ability to perform basic stress/deflection calculations to validate projects, and/or, FEA experience with tools that were/would be built

Prioritize skills and experiences from most important to least

Leading a team

SAP experience

Education Ideally, you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

Associate's or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Technology discipline
