Our goal is to be the premier fundamentals shop across the midstream space. This position will perform industry‑leading fundamentals analysis of the oil, natural gas, NGL and “new energy” markets. Working alongside the commercial and business development teams, as well as with other members of the Market Intelligence & Fundamentals team, the candidate will assist in the development of an independent, holistic view of the North American energy space that is actionable to Tallgrass and Tallgrass's clients.
Tallgrass is looking to hire a Market Analyst in either Lakewood, CO or Houston, TX.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or related field (Master’s preferred).
1+/5+ years of experience (Market Analyst/Senior Market Analyst, respectively) in the oil and gas fundamentals space – or similar experience.
Experience / Specific Knowledge
Experience within a midstream/energy consulting firm, upstream E&P company, investment bank or energy trading firm a plus.
Ability to synthesize complex information into clear, actionable insights.
Strong Microsoft Suite skills (Excel, SQL, PowerBI, Powerpoint, etc.).
Coding skills (R/Python), power market experience, and financial analysis a plus.
Certifications, Licenses, Registrations
Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers (for travel).

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Perform quantitative and qualitative supply, demand and price forecasts of the global and North American regional oil, natural gas, NGL and “new energy” markets.
Deliver results to key stakeholders across the organization efficiently and succinctly. This could include written reporting and formal presentations.
Work with key stakeholders across the organization to ensure that all results and conclusions influence Tallgrass and its clients from a strategic perspective.
Work with traders to analyze market conditions, develop risk mitigation and marketing strategies, and support decisions that optimize revenue.
The successful candidate will be comfortable creating, maintaining and analyzing a diverse set of large fundamentals‑based data sets – including pipeline flows, prices, production data, infrastructure tracking, global and domestic demand, equity fundamentals and macroeconomic indicators.
The successful candidate also has a passion for economics, is intellectually curious, and has a proven track record of being a team player.
In coordination with key stakeholders, develop dashboards (PowerBI, Shiny, etc.) that accurately purvey top‑of‑mind data in a clear and concise manner.
Utilize the latest AI tools to optimize workflow and analysis.
Perform ad hoc research upon request.
This role will report to the Director of Market Intelligence and Fundamentals.
Travel may be required.
Will work non‑traditional hours as needed.
