The pay range is $95,000.00 - $171,000.00. Pay is based on several factors which vary based on position. These include labor markets and, in some instances, may include education, work experience and certifications. About the Role A role on the

Cat & Jack Kids Design Team – Big Boys Apparel

means leading design for one of Target’s most important and high‑volume categories. This role requires a strong balance of creativity and commercial acumen — designing products that resonate with kids while meeting parent expectations for quality, durability, and value.

As a

Sr Designer, Big Boys Apparel , you will lead Owned Brand Product Design & Development for Cat & Jack Big Boys, driving seasonal concepts from ideation through execution. You will partner closely with Merchandising, Technical Design, and Sourcing to ensure cohesive storytelling, brand alignment, and strong business results.

You will be accountable for leading design strategy and development for Big Boys categories (e.g., graphics, knit tops, fleece, outerwear, woven shirts, bottoms, etc.), ensuring product meets merchant line plans, assortment strategies, price architecture, and overall brand direction.

What You’ll Lead

Drive seasonal concept development specific to

Cat & Jack Big Boys .

Interpret macro and youth trend insights through a commercial, mass‑retail lens.

Design and develop color stories, graphics, prints, fabrics, and trims appropriate for Big Boys.

Balance trend‑right product with durability, wash performance, and value engineering.

Partner cross‑functionally to ensure product delivers against cost targets and margin goals.

Collaborate across Big & Little to maintain brand cohesion where applicable.

Lead and mentor Associate Designers and Designers within the Kids team.

Globally shop markets and research youth culture trends to inform seasonal direction.

Partner with factories during development and execution of programs.

Drive product research, fit intent, fabrication strategy, and construction direction specific to boys apparel.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain strong, timely communication with internal and external partners.

Lead the PD&D process from concept through production readiness.

Forecast and apply Boys‑specific trends (graphics, color, silhouette, fabrication).

Ensure Cat & Jack brand standards are upheld across all Big Boys product.

Troubleshoot product development challenges in partnership with Technical Design and Sourcing.

Deliver innovative, cost‑effective solutions that resonate with both kids and parents.

About You

Four‑year degree in Design, Fine Art, or related field (or equivalent experience).

8+ years of apparel design experience, preferably in Kids or Boys categories.

Strong Illustrator and Photoshop skills.

Deep understanding of knit and woven construction, graphics, and youth textiles.

Strong commercial awareness and understanding of the mass‑retail landscape.

Experience balancing creativity with cost and margin considerations.

Proven ability to work independently while leading within a cross‑functional team.

Strong understanding of the end‑to‑end product development lifecycle.

Passion for designing product that serves real families and delivers everyday value.
