Ready to grow something?
Do you enjoy connecting with people? Are you energized by innovation and growth? Do you thrive on solving problems, spotting opportunities, and turning conversations into long-term partnerships that fuel business growth? Most importantly – do you have a passion for plants?
If so, you may be exactly who we’re looking for.
Star® Roses and Plants is a leader in the horticulture industry, known for innovative plant genetics and household brands like The Knock Out® Family of Roses. As a Territory Sales Representative, you will lead all sales activities within your assigned territory. Your success is supported by a robust portfolio of nationally recognized brands spanning roses, woody ornamentals, edibles, and perennials – strengthened by partnerships with more than 100 suppliers.
This role is for someone who thrives on in-person interaction rather than behind a screen – someone who enjoys building relationships, identifying opportunities, and helping customers grow.
What You'll Own As the Territory Sales Representative, you will lead all sales activities within your assigned region. You’ll manage relationships, identify new businesses, and bring strategic energy to your accounts.
Your responsibilities include:
Prospecting, generating leads, and managing the full sales cycle from first conversation to close and follow-up
Presenting and selling our full portfolio of roses, woody ornamentals, edibles, and perennials
Developing strategic business and production plans with the Director of Sales and Product Managers
Building consultative partnerships with growers, licensees, brokers, and retail partners
Serving as a trusted resource and liaison supporting our intellectual property
Collaborating across Sales, Marketing, Supply, Finance, and Product teams
Representing Star® Roses and Plants at regional and national trade shows and industry events
Managing customer credits and supporting collections when needed
Sharing marketing insights and innovative ideas to help shape future growth
You’ll have the autonomy to plan your customer visits, prioritize accounts, and maximize face‑to‑face selling – because relationships are built in person.
The Pace & The Travel This role requires 50-75% travel, including regional and national trips. You’ll spend most of your time in the field – meeting customers, walking crops, attending trade shows, and building relationships throughout your territory.
You’ll also collaborate with colleagues across the company, including visits to our main office in West Grove, PA, and coordinating with our Dinuba, CA team during the shipping season.
Expect some long travel days by car and plane, extended periods of walking and standing during site visits, and time outdoors in varying conditions. The pace is fast, and the days are full, and no two weeks look exactly alike. If you enjoy variety, autonomy, and being out in the field, you’ll love it here.
As a company, we collaborate virtually as well, so comfort with Microsoft Office and Microsoft Teams is important.
Requirements To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
A few logistics.
You’ll be traveling regionally and nationally 50–75% of your time. Whether making daily site visits to customers in your territory, attending corporate and regional trade shows, or meeting with colleagues at our main offices in West Grove, PA, each day is a new opportunity to bring the best products to your customers. You can expect some long travel days in vehicles and airplanes and should be comfortable with site visits that include walking and standing for several hours and being in the elements outdoors. As a company, we do collaborate virtually quite a bit, so you should be tech savvy and familiar with Microsoft Office and Teams.
Who Thrives in This Role You might be a strong fit if:
You have 5+ years of successful in the field sales experience (industry salesexperience preferred)
You have a horticulture background (strongly preferred)
You know how to prospect, present, close, and expand a territory
You take a consultative, solution-based approach
You can analyze sales data and pivot strategy when needed
You are highly organized and disciplined, maximizing face‑to‑face selling time through effective visit planning and routing.
Excellent organization and time management. This includes strong attention to detail in order processing and follow‑up.
You are comfortable with extensive travel and have reliable transportation
Most importantly:
You are relationship driven. Customers trust you because you put their success first. You collaborate well internally and bring positivity, accountability, and follow‑through to everything you do.
