Commercial Roofing Estimator
BlueTeam is a US-based provider of national disaster recovery, remediation, reconstruction, renovation, and roofing services for commercial properties. Our core business focuses on cleanup and mitigation efforts for recovery from fire damage, roof leaks, flooding, pipe bursts, and post-disaster remediation due to severe weather. We exclusively serve commercial sectors including hospitality, senior housing, healthcare, commercial offices, municipalities, multifamily living, and institutional markets. Summary
The Commercial Roofing Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate, competitive, and timely cost estimates for commercial roofing projects, including both insurance claims and bid reroof work. This role supports the Division Director by analyzing drawings, specifications, and site conditions; performing detailed roofing takeoffs; determining total project costs for labor, materials, and equipment; EDGE software for bid opportunities. The Estimator collaborates closely with project management, subcontractors, production, and internal pre-bid teams to ensure complete scopes, timely submissions, and smooth project handoff, while also meeting with insurance adjusters to negotiate and finalize claim values. This position requires strong knowledge of commercial construction practices and building codes, excellent negotiation and communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced, detail-driven environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Receive new assignments from the Division Director Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for commercial roofing projects for both insurance and reroof bid projects Conduct detailed analyses of project specifications, material lists and drawings Prepare estimates utilizing EDGE Software for bid reroof projects Collaborate with Project management team and subcontractors to gather necessary information for accurate estimates Perform roofing takeoffs through drawings, prints, and other measures including site visits as needed Determine the total cost of materials, equipment, utilities, and labor for commercial roofing Collaboration with production team for planning, organizing, and scheduling project work Manage pre-qualification and pre-bid submissions Ensure that relevant documents and budgets are submitted before a bid deadline Client communication (local & corporate) at specified intervals to set and maintain expectations Communicate internally with the client expectations to ensure a smooth transition into production Work with internal Prebid review team to finalize estimates and distribute to the client Assist in subcontractor and vendor selection and vetting as needed Prepare turnover package and complete project hand-off to Project Manager Re-engage as necessary during production to review progress Performs other related duties and assignments as required Qualifications
Experience as a Commercial Roofing Estimator in general construction field as a general contractor representative Extensive knowledge of established construction and maintenance practices, procedures, and techniques as well as applicable local, state and federal building codes and legislation Strong communication skills; thorough and attentive to details Able to prioritize and multi-task, proactive and deadline oriented and interpersonal skills Must possess strong negotiation skills Time management, multitasking, and interpersonal skills Ability to closely collaborate with other project teams and stakeholders Demonstrated experience with EDGE Software Ability to read and interpret documents such as work orders, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals Computer skills including internet, e-mail, (MS Outlook) MS Excel, and MS Word Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's Degree from a four-year college or university or (5+) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience Minimum of at least five years of commercial roofing estimating for bid reroofs and/or roof new construction. Knowledge or experience estimating commercial roofing insurance claims a plus. Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete and abstract variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Physical Demands
