In this role you will bridge the gap between regulatory requirements and operational data. This is not a traditional administrative compliance role; we need an investigator with natural curiosity who can leverage advanced data tools (Skywise, PowerBI, and AI) to ensure strict adherence to 19 CFR and global trade standards. You will ensure Satair USA's compliance with U.S. Customs regulations while building data models that automate audits, visualize risks, and streamline our aviation aftermarket supply chain. The position requires extensive knowledge of U.S. Customs Regulations including: HTSUS and ECCN classification, free trade agreements, country of origin requirements, Export Administration Regulations (EAR), International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and all applicable U.S. Customs rules. You will report directly to the Head of Finance Americas. 1. Trade Compliance Operations (30%) Strategic Classification: Oversee complex HTS and ECCN classification for aviation aftermarket parts, shifting the focus from manual entry to systematic, logic-based management. Regulatory Governance: Serve as the subject matter expert for U.S. Customs regulations (19 CFR) and corporate policies, ensuring all import/export activities meet strict legal standards. Broker Management: Act as the primary liaison for Satair's customs brokers and subcontractors, driving accountability and ensuring timely clearance. 2. Data Analytics & Business Intelligence (30%) Data Mining: Utilize SQL and Skywise (Palantir) to extract supply chain data, identifying compliance gaps, cost-saving opportunities, and duty drawbacks. Visualization: Design and maintain interactive PowerBI dashboards to translate complex customs data into clear narratives for senior leadership (tracking KPIs, entry timeliness, and accuracy). Tech-Driven Compliance: Leverage advanced tools and AI/ML models to reconcile static regulatory requirements with dynamic operational data. 3. Process Automation & Optimization (30%) Workflow Automation: Develop VBA macros and scripts to automate repetitive manual tasks, such as entry validation and duty calculation. Data-First Auditing: Perform internal audits on import/export entries using a data-centric approach to detect anomalies and prevent penalties before they occur. Cross-Functional Integrity: Collaborate with logistics and engineering teams to ensure master data integrity flows correctly across all systems. 4. Strategic Support & Projects (10%) Support the Customs Manager in the development and implementation of high-level company initiatives and continuous improvement projects. Required - High School diploma or GED Required - 6+ years' experience in U.S. import compliance, import operations or combination thereof Regulatory Expertise: Strong knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations (19 CFR), HTSUS, and Partner Government Agency requirements. Data & Analytics: Proficiency in Microsoft PowerBI to build data models, automate audits, and visualize supply chain risks. Engineering Interpretation: Ability to read aircraft engineering data (drawings, maintenance manuals) to determine accurate trade classification. Investigative Mindset: A proactive approach to identifying data anomalies and resolving regulatory discrepancies. Preferred - 2+ years' experience in tariff classification Preferred -Systems Experience: Familiarity with Skywise, SAP GTS, or similar global trade software. Preferred -Trade Programs: Knowledge of voluntary initiatives like C-TPAT or ISA. Licensure/Certifications:(preferred) Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) Master Customs Specialist (MCS) U.S. Customs Broker License Travel Required: 10% Domestic and International Eligibility: Eligible for employment in the US Additional Information
