We are looking for an Underwriter for our office in New York, NY for our Financial Lines line of business.
Your Team Allianz Commercial (AzC) specializes in corporate property insurance for the most complex and challenging risk exposures in more than 200 countries and territories. With a focus on larger international risk portfolios, we offer tailor‑made 'All Risks' property damage and business interruption insurance through our global network.

When it comes to underwriting insurance products for well‑known famous sports venues, sports/entertainment facilities, major airlines, retail/wholesale companies, banks and manufacturers, we do it all!
The Impact You Will Have As an Underwriter specializing in Financial Lines, you will be instrumental in underwriting profitable new and renewal business to meet Line of Business (LoB) targets. Your role will involve negotiating prices and terms, owning key accounts, and developing strong relationships with producers and clients, all while effectively navigating the global matrix environment.
Responsibilities
Underwrite profitable new and renewal accounts to meet top and bottom line targets, negotiate terms with key producer partners, manage capacity proactively, evaluate Natural Catastrophe Accumulation, and underwrite International Insurance Programs.
Ensure underwriting aligns with LoB governance framework, achieve contract certainty, utilize global pricing tools, and manage FAC Reinsurance placement.
Ensure accurate policy documentation, maintain files for each risk and transaction, and support policy administration and credit control processes.
Support acquisition of new business, retention of existing business, and liaise with MMC on market management initiatives.
Represent AGCS positively in the market, involve functional areas in the underwriting process, and maintain strong relationships with key producers, clients, and stakeholders.
Qualifications
1-3 years of experience and a proven track record in underwriting profitable business within Financial Lines (specifically financial institutions), with a robust understanding of LoB products and portfolio.
Basic risk assessment and management skills, with the ability to evaluate natural hazards relevant to LoB.
Good understanding of regional/local insurance markets and competitor landscape.
Analytical skills to analyze complex data, communication and presentation skills, and influencing skills to motivate others.
Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Insurance Management, or Business Administration, with progress toward professional insurance qualifications (e.g., CII).
Fluent in English, with proficiency in using office applications like PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
Ability to utilize AI tools to support day‑to‑day tasks, improve efficiency and contribute to data‑driven decision making.

The annualized base pay range for this role is $ 81,161.00 to $ 110,000.00. The annual base salary range represents a nationwide market range. The actual salary for this position may be above and will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role, the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate. The base pay is just one component of the AzC total compensation package. As part of our comprehensive compensation and highly rated benefits programs, employees are also eligible for annual performance‑based cash incentive awards.
