Primary Duties And Responsibilities

Overview The Commercial Credit Specialist (CCS) supports the end-to-end commercial credit process including initial deal coordination, review and confirmation of appropriate financial statements, order and review of pre‑close due diligence, and engagement of the loan processing team while supporting efforts for reporting, monitoring loans and outreach to members to gather information where appropriate.
Essential Responsibilities
Reviewing and verifying loan application documents for accuracy and completeness, ensuring compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements, and coordinating with applicants to obtain necessary information and documentation.
Ensure timely and consistent execution of the commercial credit processes
Initial deal coordination including confirmation that the appropriate financials statements have been submitted
Order and review of pre‑close due diligence
Process full coordination of all member related documentation including setup, scheduling, collection, monitoring and other financial documentation needs
Supports SBA 1052 reporting
As directed, provides accurate and timely completion of Board Reports including hosting a monthly collection call for updates with management
Collection and monitoring of Borrowing Base Reports, submit limit restrictions to Business Loan Operations
Manage Meridian Link loan process, reviewing all new applications, notifying credit analysts of new applications ready to be decisioned, communicating requests for additional documentation with applicants and communicating loan decisions with applicants
Assist in the management of maturing loans/renewals by sending notices to members via email and regular mail, review maturing loan pipeline and participate in pipeline review meetings
Monitor the commercial lending email box and follow‑up on appropriate response as needed
Provide accurate insurance tracking
Contact borrowers to obtain necessary pre‑closing business loan documentation
Coordinate pre‑closing activities and documents in accordance with federal and state compliance requirements including, but not limited to: Order appraisals, title documentation, flood documentation, conduct background search on the business and order loan documentation with an approved attorney or prepare in‑house
Assemble and review the final loan package
Schedule loan closings, coordinating with Commercial Loan Officer, closing attorney, and borrower
Assist Commercial Loan Officers in obtaining post‑closing documentation needed to address loan exceptions
Onboard and fund business loans upon closing
Prepare denied and withdrawn loan applications, drafting adverse action letters and forwarding for approval before sending them to the applicant
Assist members with inquiries regarding their business loan application
Work closely with all 3rd party vendors to ensure that their Due Diligence is obtained within a timely manner and approved by GECU
Conduct quality control audit on business loans post‑closing
Education And Experience
High school diploma or GED required; bachelor's degree preferred
Four years working in commercial loan processing or similar lending role
Proficient experience working commercial lending underwriting and review process
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Ability to work independently with a high degree of time management skills
Strong knowledge of financial statements, credit reporting, and applying proper decision making
High degree of attention to detail especially when reviewing financial documents and reporting
Proficiency in technology with ability to navigate commercial systems including Merdian Link, Abrigo/Sageworks, DNA
Professionalism in both oral and written communication with the ability to clearly communicate realistic timelines
