This role is designed for a technically strong BI professional who thrives at the intersection of data engineering, analytics, and stakeholder engagement. This is not a pure oversight role, we are looking for someone who remains deeply hands‑on in data modeling, dashboard development, and insight generation.
Responsibilities
Translate complex business questions into scalable analytical solutions.
Proactively identify opportunities where data can drive better investment, portfolio, operational, or strategic decisions.
Move beyond dashboard production to generate actionable insights that influence senior stakeholders.
Elevate reporting from descriptive metrics to forward‑looking, insight‑driven analysis.
Design, build, and maintain scalable data models to support enterprise‑level reporting and analytics.
Develop intuitive, high‑impact dashboards and visualizations (Power BI preferred).
Partner with data engineering to ensure clean, reliable, well‑modeled datasets.
Implement best practices in semantic modeling, performance optimization, and governance.
Support the evolution of a modern BI ecosystem with reusable, scalable assets.
Data Modeling & Transformation
Build robust dimensional and analytical data models.
Work with modern transformation frameworks (dbt experience preferred).
Ensure data quality, documentation, and lineage.
Contribute to standards around data definitions and metric consistency.
Experience in creating semantic models for AI services a plus.
Stakeholder Management & Influence
Act as a thought partner to investment, portfolio, and operational teams.
Gather requirements through structured engagement while challenging assumptions where needed.
Manage competing priorities across stakeholders with clarity and discipline.
Present findings clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
Help foster a data‑driven culture across Carlyle AlpInvest.
Operate with a manager mindset — setting standards, mentoring junior team members, and improving ways of working.
Contribute to the long‑term BI and analytics roadmap.
Balance strategic thinking with execution excellence.
Qualifications Education & Certificates
Bachelor’s Degree, required
Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Finance, Business, or a related field, preferred
Professional Experience
Minimum of 5+ years of experience in Business Intelligence, Analytics Engineering, or Data Analytics roles.
Experience working in financial services, asset management, private markets, or complex enterprise environments a plus.
Proficiency in programming languages (e.g., Python, R, SQL), dashboarding tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau), and data management platforms. Strong knowledge of data architecture, automation, and system integration.
Familiarity with cloud data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Azure, AWS, GCP) preferred.
Exceptional problem‑solving skills with a track record of using data to derive insights and drive decision‑making.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into actionable business strategies for senior leadership.
Ability to lead projects and collaborate across diverse teams, including non‑technical stakeholders.
Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, high‑stakes environment with an ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
The compensation range for this role is specific to New York and takes into account a wide range of factors including but not limited to the skill sets required/preferred; prior experience and training; licenses and/or certifications.
The anticipated base salary range for this role is $160,000 to $180,000.
In addition to the base salary, the hired professional will enjoy a comprehensive benefits package spanning retirement benefits, health insurance, life insurance and disability, paid time off, paid holidays, family planning benefits and various wellness programs. Additionally, the hired professional may also be eligible to participate in an annual discretionary incentive program, the award of which will be dependent on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
