
Sr. Indirect Tax Analyst

This Sales & Use Tax Accountant plays a critical role within a high‑performing team, within a multi-billion-dollar global organization, responsible for delivering exceptional service to customers, vendors, and government agencies. This role ensures compliance with state and local tax regulations while managing multi‑state audit activities and identifying opportunities to reduce tax exposure.
The position works closely with cross‑functional teams to improve processes, implement tax‑efficient solutions, and strengthen internal controls. A successful candidate will be proactive, analytical, and committed to continually optimizing the tax function.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage multi‑state audit defense for Sales & Use, Severance, Business License, and Fuel Taxes. Address and resolve tax‑related issues for external customers promptly and professionally. Respond to inquiries from internal stakeholders and vendors regarding state and local tax regulations. Prepare account reconciliations related to Sales & Use tax activity. Conduct research on complex multi‑state Sales & Use tax matters. Support due‑diligence efforts for mergers, acquisitions, and similar business activities involving multi‑state tax implications. Provide research and technical input for SAP and Vertex tax systems to ensure accurate tax determination. Draft technical letters and correspondence to state agencies to clarify tax law interpretations. Obtain and implement special tax exemptions when appropriate. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives designed to enhance efficiency and accuracy within tax processes. Develop and deliver training to internal teams on Sales & Use tax topics. Assist with efforts to meet compliance requirements for all Sales & Use Tax obligations. Perform other duties as needed to support overall tax compliance and operational goals. Qualifications
3-5+ years of experience in multi‑state Sales & Use tax audit defense. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required. Master’s degree and/or CPA certification preferred.
